You can tint or color the windows directly to the left or right of the driver as long as nit less than 70%of the light can pass through. TINT-EM-UP!! :-:biggrin_25520:)

Yeah okay go ahead and tint those windows up. I put the lightest tint you could by on my last truck and it still wasn't legal. I got three tickets for it and they are on my CSA2010. Some states like Iowa will and can make you take it off while he is writing the ticket. The book says it is legal but there is not a tint that allows 70% or more of the light to pass threw.

And another thing it does not do a bit of good to argue or make comments about the officer having darker tint then you do. Been there done that didn't help a bit. He had the badge and gun, I didn't.

I look at it this way, it just gives them a reason to pull you over. I had my tint on my Pete 379 and I didn't speed and everything was kept clean and I had my securement on my flatbed done right by the book. But the tint gave them a reason to stop me and so when they had me stopped they did a DOT inspection and everything else passed but I could not get a CVSA sticker because of the tint.

The easiest way to be able to have tint on your windows is to get a prescription for it from your eye doctor and keep it with you. I went to the Ohio Highway Patrol station with my prescription that said tint was necessary due to my sensitivity to light and the gave me a waiver to carry in the truck if I ever did get pulled over. I never got pulled for it, but that's one route to go.

Big John is right. All windows on car have a tint applied from the factory, it is very light and at times hard to see. When you put after market tint over top of it it does not meet the standard set in 393.60. Put a tint meter on it and it's real easy to see what percentage it is.

Right, I used 50% tint (hard to get) on my Century a few years back, and missed the percentage guidelines by just a few percentage points... because of the factory tint.

Every time they put their meter on my door glass it showed 32 or 33 if I remember right. What I think is B.S. is I had 6" of limo tint on the bottom of my windshield and they wrote me a ticket for that because it was to dark. I argued on that one because it did not block my view and tried to show the idiot Arizona trooper that but he didn't want to look. I told him it was on their to block the glare from the hood, he told me to sand my hood and I told him to take a hike in the desert. Just like the Louisiana trooper that wanted to search my truck for drugs years ago, I said do I look or act like I am on drugs? If you want to practice, practice on someone else I got to truck and he chuckled and let me go.

Minnesota and Iowa both denied the prescription that a driver had and issued the ticket.

The Minnesota ticket was a warning.

    Both were shown the documention.

The inspectors stated the CMV do not come under this exclusion.

You can add Texas to that list. I am sure their are others states that will deny it also.
