Scared to take a holiday. That's a pretty sad commentary on the company. I'm pretty happy where I work but every now and then something happens that gets me upset. Then I come here and realize just how green the grass is here. :biggrin_25520:

Man I have to go along with you here. When you LIVE in your truck, you have a lot of stuff. When I quit Knight, I pretty much filled the back of my long bed truck & cap!

Not unless you are ready to move on. And if she is not, then more power to her. I know that I would never have put up with this garbage from any company.

But when I see these horror stories of folks going through orientation and then waiting weeks for a truck, or weeks for a trainer, I really have to know how good I had it. No, I never had a trainer. I learned the hard way. But I was never told to sit on my back side and wait for a truck to be available either.

AS long as you have drivers willing to drive anything this will never change. For me I'll drive one truck until it needs to be replaced. If I need more than three days off then I will look for a company that does not slip seat.

Nowhere did I see when I signed up with Swift any mention of slip seating. Anyways 1only hope you get a truck soon this is ridiculous that you have to wait with no pay at all.

threaten to file for unemployment and see how fast they find you a new one. that is why I never took my week paid. I was planning on leaving and took a day here and there.

I was sick with the flu for 5 days at home. I never had them call me about giving up my truck.

Update: It's been a week, and still no truck. I called my DM yesterday to find out where I stand on the waiting list, and she said she would call me back when she found out, and never did. This is messing up my plans for the 4th.

With several years in the business, I'd play the card of getting off that bus and starting somewhere else. That way, also, you could plan your company change over the 4th.

You should be filling out applications while you wait.

Edit. Just seen you have 5 years. What are you doing working for such a bad company?

Swift isn't "such a bad company." They're certainly not the best, but they're not the worst. They have great miles, and they can get me anywhere I want to go for hometime. In general, they have worked out well for me. This slip seating issue is the biggie, and I was willing to play by their rules on that one, too, if they'd had a truck for me when I got back. There are many drivers who have worked for Swift even longer than I, and are quite content to stay with them.

P.S. my job search or lack thereof is my personal business, and not something I will post about here.

Just a suggestion on the job thing, no need for an update or play-by-play - I know some people feel the need to talk about things like that, and I feel that's wrong in a public forum, unless that's what your question or comments are about. Good for you not airing laundry.
