I left home driving up to Layton Utah at 5:30 am on Sunday July 15 2007 and I got here at 1:30 Pm on Sunday I forgot to print the right map so I got lost looking for the hotel.

I also forgot to grab my pillow and blanket but remembered after I got to Cheyenne Wy 1 hour from my house. I will just go to Walmart and buy one.

Got to hotel about 2:00 pm I went to check in and found out that someone messed up and did not have me reserved for Sunday they had me Reserved for Monday. Now I can not blame it on the company mistakes do happen. The hotel went ahead and booked me in and are billing the company for the extra day.

I am suppose to meet in the lobby about 8:00 am today so I can go to orentation.

I can drive there but since I do not know when it starts I will just hitch a ride.

I will update everyone later today on how it is going.

Well yesterday there were 5 people that started out after the road test was done this guy that 20+ years experince driving quit because he did not pass the road test and they were going to put him with a trainer so he told them to send him home. The guy did not use his signals and a coulpe of other minor things.

Now on to me I filled out a new application, insurance application, 401k, tax papers, pee test, etc.

I did my road test in a long nose pete something I had never driven before I only drove snubb nose freightliners I told the saftey guy up front that it was going to be interesting because I have never driven a 13 spd or a long nose he said thats fine do your best.

Ok on one turn I over shot it and almost ended up in a guy's yard but stopped and backed up enough to swing it all the while holding up all traffic.

That is about all that happened on day one.

I met a guy that has been with them for almost 4 years he says that they do have their problems but it has not been bad enough to quit. He temporaly lost his CDL due to an overwight ticket in Cali.

He paid it but the problem is it was two years ago and he does not have the recipt handy to prove it so the suspended his license for non payment and he is having to pay it again he is mad. He said if we ever have to send in a fine get return recipt on the mailing.

He says that he is making plenty on money and never had to sit once waiting on a load but he also says that you have to keep up on the eta's etc.

He also told us about how to tweek the idleing percent legaly.

I'll update you tomorrow on day 2

Well I should be all done with most paperwork. I still need to do direct deposit info. We are going over our driver test packet tomorrow then we will have our driver code issued to us. They are hoping to have us all trainers tomorrow afternoon.

If not they will be checking us back into the hotel.

We all still need to have our comdata cards issued to us I have seen my card in the employment file yesterday.

I hate split logging it is a pain in the butt there was plenty of questions on it.

There is another class starting tommorrow they only have 4.

So far I not having any problems.

I had to get employment verification for the job that I have just left the company that I was contracted to was trying to say you will wait till next week.
I told the previous company no I will not you will fax it to me now it is not a choice due to I could of be sent home for not being able to prove employment for the last 7 months.

The boss called back and said ok I am working on it now what all does it need to say and he got it over within 5 minutes after I hung up.

But so far the home terminal has not said anything else about my info so I should be good to go.

We are also waiting on the drug screens to come back they should be in tomorrow too.

They have not said exactly how long I will be out with the trainer but said most people are out 5 days - 6 weeks depends on how you can handle the truck.

The only problem that I see is I may have to test in a long nose pete even though I will train in a snub nose.

I am going to request to be tested out for solo in a snub nose hopefully the trainers truck.

I was told that sometimes you get to test in your trainers truck.

I may update you tomorrow if we have to stay at the hotel or if I can find a free wifi hot spot.

How are you posting at school, your own mobile pc?

Sounds like you are doing good and are at a good company. You wll catch on quick to bigger truck. Don't worry too much about it. Maybe ask other drivers truck driving characteristic differences between the two if they know so you can adjust faster. If that's what you are going to drive, they may like to see how you handle it, and how well you adapt.

I have my own laptop and I post when I am at the hotel.

I just could not see the ground down in front of the truck in the long nose like I could in the snub nose that is the only thing that threw me off.

It did not help that I was already nervous trying to do my test drive.

I was told that we all new guy's once solo will probaly get the long nose.
I told them if avalible I would like a freightliner hopefully snub nose.
