And even badges MAY not mean anything. ANYBODY can go online and buy a badge!

Immediate action is to call 911. Let him stand outside and yell and pound on your door until the cows come home, but until you have verified with 911 that he is legitimate, don't open the door!

Actually your last sentence here is right. Injun is lucky she was not tazed, (or worse,) considering the mentality of this cop.

I have to agree with this post. If you feel up to it, you need to contact his department and talk with a SUPERVISOR, not just whoever answers the phone.

You will be doing yourself, other drivers, and believe it or not, this copper a BIG favor by doing some follow up. He needs at the very least a bit of re-training. Who knows what else they have on file with him too. If he has a pattern of abusive behavior, this might be enough for them to can him.

I hate to make any type of judgement calls on something like this, because all we have is your point of view. But this sounds like it was so far overboard there is just no excuse for his actions.

The fact is, that even though you came out of this, relatively unharmed, does NOT speak for what was in his mind when he started beating on your door.

I can see all kinds of scenarios here that might have made him "hinky," about the contact. But if he really was concerned about it, he never should have tried the contact by himself. As is evidenced by the arrival of the CHP, he did have back up available. He just chose not to wait for it.

Frankly, I think you are very lucky the way this turned out.

Please remember Injun, NOT all cops are arse wholes. I'm so sorry this happened to you.

it really is a bit of a scary situation--you are kinda screwed if you open the door and screwed if you dont
i honestely dont know what i would do in a situation like that
i do know that after having a heart attack--i am deathly afraid of being tazed--
in injuns situation i think it is lucky that it didnt escalate into something more---one would almost think that she would have been justified in pepper spraying the guy or worse and then god only knows how it would have turned out--half ####ed cop with a fully ####ed pistol

I am really sorry to hear of this happening to you. I can imagine the terror you were feeling, that sense of helplessness while you are relegated to observer status at what could be a pivotal moment in your life. As someone who normally has more control in her life that feeling of utter powerlessness and complete shock at the unfolding circumstances is overwhelming. I'm glad that you are, for the most part, okay.

Based on what you wrote, it would seem that the officer violated your civil rights at the very least, if not other laws and department policies. I truly hope you talk to a professional in that regard (first, before speaking to anybody at the department) and file a formal complaint and charges if warranted. The key piece of information in that regard is going to be the complaint that initiated the officer's actions. That information has to be preserved and investigated.

I'm not anti-cop by any stretch, but they have to follow the rules too and should be held to a higher standard. I am anti-authority in the sense that this kind of thing offends me to my core and we all have to be vigilant about maintaining and asserting our rights. Ironically, the second you start to talk about that most people think "what are you trying to hide?"

If the perpetrator was who you think, I hope they are caught and dealt with in the severest manner. What a sad, sad commentary when you cannot share with your friends a little about your daily life, where you are and what you're doing because of some pathetic worm whose own life is so devoid of any substance.

It's going to be a lot harder for them to blow off the complaint if the local news gets a hold of the story.

If I was a newsworthy person, I would give that a shot. I am a truck driver. In California.

A little humor is needed in this thread......

If you take your shirt off at the next truck stop....you could then claim to be "newsworthy"! Only if you post the pictures to boot.....no not the boots the top....shirtless top....you know...........oh pith on it!:biggrin_25523:

Follow BIG DON's advice and the others posting about filing a complaint with the Stanislaus Sheriffs Dept.

Good luck with that one though...Stanislaus is worse and tighter than L.A.PD ever dreamed of being....definitely a "protect our own" before we protect and serve!

Wow, none of that is good at all! Glad it turned out you weren't injured by this moron. Please remember, most LEO's have a lot less aggressive nature. Just by him not waiting for backup raises some real red flags, like Don said. There's just something wrong with a cop that wouldn't wait for it. It likely is going to be a bit difficult to deal with LEO's for a long time because of this, it would bother me as well.
One can only hope this bonehead "John Wayne" gets on the right track, whether he straightens up, or they can him. If all they do is can him, he may wind up being even more dangerous than he already is.:biggrin_25511:

I live in rural area serviced by a sheriffs dept. Our sheriff is a good man and anyone could call and discuss a situation like this. He might not know his deputy was even acting like this. A phone call could possibly get the man reprimanded if the sheriff is on the up and up. He definately has issues with a badge. He probably runs around thinking all truck drivers are drug dealers and users. Goes to show his shallow mentality. Had he showed proper identification, I'm sure things would of went alot smoother. He already had it in his mind Injun was guilty.
There's been news on tv about woman being pulled over in isolated area's scared. It's recommended to call 911 and verify. They know if the deputy was dispatched.

You're a woman who was assaulted in her bed by an out of uniform (probably off duty) rogue cop in the middle of the night. That's on top of the newsworthiness of truck drivers being attacked when they're trying to rest, not being able to find anywhere safe to rest, the feds wanting more women truck drivers, and on and on. Granted this would be an easier sell with audio or video of it but find the right reporter and he'll work the angles. Landline might be interested at least.
