Very well said, Injun!!
I, too, still jump at loud, sudden noises, and "duck and cover", sometimes, at sudden, sharp movements near my head....even after many years away from my abuser.
That said, your original post, as well as this one, HAS gotten me to be more safety-aware, out here. Even though I travel with hubby, bad things can happen even WITH someone else accompanying you.
I've shared your incident with some of my lady trucker friends, as well as some of my non-trucker lady friends. They are ALL aghast, and the truckers have, each and everyone, said they will forever remember your story, and will be more aware of what they should/should not do, if such a situation ever happens to them. If nothing else "good" ever comes from this terrifying incident, you can know that what happened to you has made other lady truckers THINK more of their safety. (my other lady friends, as well, are now thinking "when I get in my car, lock the doors IMMEDIATELY!", etc.)
I do hope you continue to follow this as high-up, and as far as you can, to make this numb-nut "peace officer" aware that what he did was WRONG, on so MANY levels.

Once in NM I was pulled in for a drug search. They asked if they could search my cab. I told them I was packing no drugs and that if they wanted to look without destroying my interior that was OK with me, but that if they planned on tossing the entire place and leaving it a mess like you described they were going to have to go get a warrant.
According to them NM state law does not allow them to trash a place. They are allowed to look and keep things in a reasonable condition like it was prior to them looking.
After it was over you could barely tell the officer had looked.
When they turned me loose I told them "I told you so, you just wasted my time and yours."
They weren't real happy about that. lolsimplyred1962 Thanks this. -

SO..To clarify: I am being fair to the poster. Im pointing out that they, leo, do bad things like her indecent. -
OMG......Ok....ok..... well you take that hat and wear it proudly. I GET IT. YOUR a women. The world is against you. The trucking industry is a mans world....yada yada yada. I get it....
I was just trying to relate to her and put myself in her shoes that night to better understand her version of events.
FYI I was thought how to drive by a 55yr old women and last time I checked I don't use my male parts to drive. SO I anit one of the guys who cares....If you your a women or man in the trucking business. If you wanna go around thru life feeling like your more vulnerable then men, then you do that but ITS YOU who puts yourself down not me. Strenght is a matter of perception. -
I for sure would ask for a supervisor to show and I would ask for a warrant before someone entered my cab. If they still go in then I will pass the info to a ambulance chaser. -
I understand what you were trying to say, George.
I also undertand what 1nonly is saying. The fact is, women are, in general, not as physically strong as men. With few exceptions. I have unusual upper body strength for a woman. But I am still no match for a mid-20's, very well-built and athletic man. This does not keep me from driving a truck and I am able to do every part of the job.
However. Being attacked in a truck stop in the middle of the night is not part of the job. Women have to be more wary. It's a fact. Apparently, that little detail got past this officer.simplyred1962 Thanks this. -
Had I had the time to wait I would have asked for a warrant.
As it was I was already way behind and then dispatch was riding my ### like a bad habit.
I was trying to make up time by allowing them to do their thing so I could get the flock outa there.
