Yeah looking put together for orientaion is a good idea but not like suit and tie deal, then you would look out of place. Most drivers at my orentation were wearing jeans or khakis and nice clean shirts. I personally wore a pain of jeans and a CWTL T-shirt I had bought during my time as a passenger my first day and then just jeans and t-shirts the rest of the week.

Katey, good to here from you. Seems like a lot of loads go to Calexico and Laredo. I guess that is a good thing for teams? Is Calexico just a drop yard? I'm thinking Laredo is a terminal? Glad to here your miles are good. I talked to a lady solo driver at a rest area on I40 just outside of Memphis and she said conway treats teams really well. She has been with conway for 10yrs. Glad u r feeling better. Hope u have a good day. Mark

Yes, since going team we have been getting lots of loads to Laredo (which is a terminal, and one of the bigger ones) and Calexico (which is a drop yard we share with a lot of other companies). We got quite a bit to Laredo when we were solo to but in Calexico we see more teams than anything. We like getting loads to both though, usually get atleast 1200+ mile runs outta both, sometimes even really good ones like 2200 and 1900 and such.

I have talked to many many drivers and most of them have all told me that they feel they are treated well here. I have heard very few drivers complain much and usually the ones who did you could tell they were the type of people who complain about anything and everything. No company is perfect but I think Con-way works good for those who work good for it :)

Take care and keep us updated!

Does CWTL have a lot of loads going into/out of Canada? I've been looking at the "what's your 20" thread, and I don't see very many.

Also, this is a purely opinion question, do you think they'd be willing to work with a driver who doesn't want to go? At least keep it to a minimum?

CWTL is at the top of my list, but the combination forced dispatch and Canada is my only sticking point.

How many terminals does conway truck load have? Drop yards? Terminals in Joplin, W. Memphis, Laredo and Lancaster I know. Drop yard in Calexico I know. Which terminals have showers, laundery. What about restaurants?

I am not much help here, sorry. I am new and will have to get my passport asap but my co-driver was around before that was required and doesn't have it so we never go. Hopefully someone else who does go can step in and answer this one.

Terminals all have showers, laundry, lounge, etc... and all terminals except Joplin you can bobtail out of to do shopping and such in the city. Joplin you have to take the shuttle (or a taxi after hours - con-way pays).

Terminals are in: Laredo, TX; Lancaster, TX; West Memphis, AR; Joplin, MO; and Taylor, MI.

Drop yards usually just have a guard shack and a porta-john. The drop yards that I can remember off the top of my head are:

    Kansas City, MO
    Calexico, CA
    Pocahantos, IL
    El Paso, TX
    Ote Mesa, CA
    Nogales, AZ
(there's another one in MO but I can't remember where)

I have been to Canada twice in two months. Not too bad once you learn how it all works. If you don't really want to go there, tell them. I have mentioned (more than once) that I don't ever want to go to the northeast if it can be avoided. So far, so good. They say forced dispatch, but everything is negotiable from what I have been told, as long as you approach it the right way (nice, tactful, calm, etc.).
