Injun, sorry this happened to you, thanks for posting it though, there is a lot to be learned from this experience and how to deal with it if it should ever visit one of us.

Gotta love the "War on Drugs".

Hindsight now but never open the door. Call 911 even when any person claims authority for you to open door. Hell I will do it just so I know whether to ventilate the person or not.

Nail Junoirs balls to the ICC bumper when you get a lawyer to hand them to you.

All of these "alternative uniforms" were just getting into use at the time I retired. I think it is economy driven, as jump suits and BDUs can be thrown in the washer instead of having to go to the dry cleaners. And they are a hell of a lot cheaper to purchase initially.

HOWEVER - it is situations like this, that make me believe they should be limited to very specific situations. Sure, I can see where the DOT cop needs to have the jump suit/coverall or whatever they call it.

And there are other special uses for it. But for everyday use in dealing with the public, a standard, readily identifiable uniform with appropriate department patches and a badge, just can't be beaten.

And whoever started the trend toward baseball caps, instead of decent covers needs to be horse whipped. Sure, there is a time and place for them. But not on the head of an officer doing regular patrol.

If what Injun posts is what happened, and I certainly have NO REASON to doubt her, then this was not only screwed up, but was a disaster waiting to happen. I always hesitate to make a judgement call on something like this though. Simply because I don't have all the facts. But at the very least, this situation needs to be investigated and appropriate action taken.

The fact that this deputy went "hands on" with a {suspect} and then did not follow through with an arrest, speaks volumes. Something was just not right here.

My dad did it for most of 40 years and it wasn't until is last 10 or 12 years as a narcotics officer for the state that he had BDUs and he didn't wear those except in performance of an orchestrated bust. They weren't the daily uniform.

Shouldn't be to hard to find out just how cooperative they are. All she has to do is get a copy of the CHP officers report, and if it's not mentioned in the report chances are it will never be mentioned at all.

Hey guys, some of these posts are only loosely related to the original thread topic and would be better suited to the Politics forum. If your post isn't directly related to Injun's situation, please find the appropriate section for it. Thanks!
