I don't think the problem is so much that they don't use it at all, but use it when they shouldn't. A young guy at the last company I drove for blew the clutch brakes out of at least three different trucks, you can guess what I told him when he asked to use my truck...

When coming to a stop, do not jam the clutch to the floor, instead half way down, and feel the trans into 2nd or 3rd just before the truck stops, of course 3rd would be at a slightly higher speed than 2nd. But once you get used to the truck, it's easy to figure out, no clutch brake needed at all, you'll be in the gear you want to start with.

Judging by how screwed my clutch has been after my last trainee, no they do not teach it.

No they are not taught because their so-called trainer that has 6 months experience doesn't know how either and besides he too busy watching porn on his laptop in the bunk or sleeping anyway.

it's both. I've driven trucks with killer brakes... so no grinding... next truck will have no brake at all, it seems... then I grind and embarass myself the first time I go to take off or if I forget at a pump.

I see this all the time and wondered about it too. Took awhile till I figured it out these are old hands that have been used to American clutches for years and now they're struggling to use the new federal mandated metric clutch
