I float, but don't let yourself forget how to double clutch. You'll find yourself in situations where you need to. There really isn't much to floating. It's more the same as if you were using the clutch, except you don't. You just have to be more particular about hitting your RPMs right.

The only time I double clutch is when I'm downshifting while braking. Even then, I might just clutch it out of gear and then float it back in on the downshift. Otherwise it's better to just float upshifting and downshifts as long as you just feel for the gears and don't force it.

Now, I've heard it all. No more sweat lodges for me. -
I think he means, Break, then double clutch, then more break, then double clutch the next gear.

Um .... Float here. I only use the clutch to stop and start moving.

i think its fair to say that 99% of us float. that 1% is most likely new drivers that havent learned to float yet. Useing the clutch is just a waste of the clutch and your left leg.

i use to double clutch, then i went to LA in rush hour traffic... well i don't double clutch anymore i don't think my leg and knee could of handled it..
so now i float all the time only using the clutch to stop and start -
having the know how to double clutch is good, but for me, the only time im pressing the clutch pedal is when i sitting still., but bewarned, floating is easy when you know how, but can be trying at first, if your a company driver, not much to worry about if you break a tooth or 2, if your an OO, that will be your exspence
