    Party time... excellent!

Yeah, having a little get together at the pad later, hopefully... Looking forward to my first run!

I will update ASAP... I picked up an iPhone 4 this week on Verizon, so I can hotspot and post from time to time

Be back asap with pics, info and possibly a video or two.

Good for you! Now begins what will become a very rewarding career for you. You will get out of it what you put into it. There will be some tough days ahead, but remember, ask questions, there's a ton of old timers and seasoned veterans that will be glad to help you, you just have to ask. Good luck on your new career.

Don't turn ANY loads down. They ALL ADD up at the weeks end & they'll run you knowing your out there to earn money & not just talking smack in the terminals & truckstops.

I did the short runs when freight was slow. Still got PLENTY of rest & decent miles at weeks end.

Good luck, God bless, & remember to take care of yourself health-wise. Trucking can be very demanding, so make time for you & think about the "fuel" you put in your body.

Indeed... I shower at least once every other day... I eat small meals and pack good snacks. I don't drink, smoke or do any drugs(duh), so I have an advantage there.

I always pace myself and I found that the reefer hum actually helps me sleep.

I just follow the smith system. I don't go into a trance and I keep looking around. I usually keep some tunes on with the iPod and I usually keep the CB radio on just in case I hear a lot of chatter... it helps if there's something ahead you can't see. I've already used mine plenty of times to warn opposing traffic of obstacles.

Trucking seems to suit me. I used to drive non-combination trucks in the Tri-State area from Erie, PA... I didn't usually stay gone more than one day, but I got a really good feel for what it's like to deal with traffic as a larger and slower vehicle.

While I want to maximize my miles per day, I'm also not a drag racer... if I notice a truck trying to pass me that's governed a bit higher, I let them go around... things like that. I'm one of the lucky people out there that isn't really put off by the crap out there on the road.

I'm looking forward to getting out there on my own. I'm sure I'll have my moments... I actually do get nervous and a little scared when people beat on my door begging for stuff, but it is what it is.

As I said before, I'll toss out some pics and maybe a video of the new ride when I get a chance... I don't know what I'm getting. Either a Volvo or a Pete, I think...

Congrats!!! i'll probably end up parked next to you someday in a truck stop.. i never end up parked next to another Knight Dry Van, always one of our Reefers..

I'm sure this doesn't apply to you cause i remember hearing the Reefer Division doesn't do drop and hook much, but if a shipper tells you a load isn't ready, don't jus go sit back in the truck and wait, ask why/how come/what the hell.. it's happen to me twice in the past couple of days.. both times shipper told Knight a load was ready (drop n' hook) dispatch sends me to go get it and there's no load. Shipper says load isn't ready yet, i ask why and they say it's because there's no empty to put it on.. And both times it was something dumb like that.. Called dispatch both times to let them know we needed empties at two seperate shippers. Jus so i could get loaded and go.

Yesterday/Today was the worse, got to shipper around 8pm monday, dropped my loaded trailer, lady said load wasn't ready, wouldn't be ready till tomorrow. Went to truck and took 10hr rest, came back, lady said load still wasn't ready. I asked if they had to grow the trees before the processed them into paper, she laughed and then told me that they didn't have a trailer to put load on.. i told her i'd be back.. sent free form micro to dispatch letting them know about the trailer situation.. that had a driver ferrying empties up to the shipper all day. Stuff is just too silly sometimes.

So much for the rider policy, it is only imediate family, and if your wife wants to come she has to bring a copy of the marriage certificate and sign some paperwork, one rider at a time, and there is an age limit, i just dont remember what it is. I know all of it is in that black three ring company binder we get. i need to find an O/O for Knight and see what all exactly changes. i'm not digging this company truck stuff.
