Bud, what you need is to get out of trucking and find yourself a winning lottery ticket. Trucking is actually real work, so many little prima donnas get into this, and then realize its actually a job and not a paid tourist position.

Consider another line of work... Maybe obamas lapdog? If nothing else 99 weeks of unemployment waiting for you if you can lazy your way through 6 months of actual employment. Oh wait, that's probably why your here right now right LOL?

With all due respect, you have problems ahead. When you get your own truck you have the same driver headaches plus the owner headaches. Anyone tired of the BS should not be looking to buy a truck - sorry.

You can work when you want and how you want and for how much you want but you aren't likely to make your payments that way. For the most part companies work their trucks and drivers in a profitable manner. When you take on those payments you will now be charged with that responsibility. You will find you work when the loads are available and take time off when they aren't. Sounds kind of like what you are fed up with.

As far as leases, I believe both Landstar and Sammons would fit your needs. I believe they are both percentage leases. Do your best to avoid leases that pay by the mile. Percentage leases offer multiple ways to increase revenue while more miles are the only way with mileage leases.

My opinion exactly.....the b.s. you speak of only gets deeper when you own. I also doubt your going to find "select" loads like you speak of like a few extra feet wide or a few extra pounds.

 

You know that's right. When you've spent some time loading the wagon you don't find yourself expecting select loads. It's all good if you can find a load that pays above your minimum going close to where you want to go. You spend more time worrying about those times you deadhead to avoid hauling cheap freight than you do worrying about getting select loads.
