This might be weird question, but do you guys ever find yourself always thinking about your your log books all the time when your driving? I realize its part of the job, but wow. I went through a couple of the threads regarding logging, and the next day at work it was driving me crazy. I had lines 1,2,3,4 going through my head:confused2: between trying to figure out how to get 70 hours in a week and trying to get your breaks and sleep time all in a days time, I don't know how you guys do it some time,(It was driving me bonkers and i'm not even a trucker!) Keep up the good work and keep on truckin! time to get ready for some line 1:sleepy2:

I can't comment to much on this as I am not a trucker, although I have logs on the brain 24/7 cause I am a log auditor.

But I have to say "line 1" is not sleepy time, it is fun time!!!!!!!!!!!:yes2557::biggrin_2559:

    Line 2 is :biggrin_25518: time

Sure, some days my logs are on my mind, and some days, I'm running so illegally that my logbook won't stop shouting at me to stop. That's usually when I throw it out the window, grab a blank one and keep on trucking!

Seriously, some days it will bug me, but that's usually only if it's day 7 for the week and I've already ran 4k miles, so I am dead out of hours but still need to deliver. Thankfully that doesn't happen too often.

and Logs is right, sleepytime is line 2, unless you are in a motel/hotel or your own bed at home.

The real fun happens on line 3, you know, getting cut off and simultaneously flipped the bird, watching drunks spin out and tear down lightpoles, seeing cars pass me on the shoulder, having cops pass me on the shoulder (both in Chicago), and then of course, the elephant races between 55 mph trucks and the 55.5 mph ones.

Wallbanger: :biggrin_25516: You should not be running so hard, I guess you take the place of Jam :biggrin_25516: l.o.l. seriously I wish you wouldn't but I can't control you, only you can control you!

However I do find your post sort of cute in the way you put it:yes2557:

Thanks Logs, I kinda played it up a bit to see what kind of response I'd get out of you ;) Seriously, I run hard, but I know my limits, and I have shutdown 30 mins from a customer b4 to take a nap, so the load gets there late, but it still gets there. Sleep is something I don't goof around with, once I start yawning, it's time to pull over and rest. The load will get there when it gets there.

With any luck, we will get the old logging regs back, where you can stop your 14 with a nap (of two hours or more). I loved those regs, I NEVER drove tired and freight got there ontime just like it does now, it just seemed easier...

You know, that's one of the funny things about the human body. I have slept (like I was dead) for 6-10 hours, gotten up, and within 2-3 hours I'm ready for a nap. ANd other days, I get my 2-4 hour powernap, get up, and can run 14-20 hours before laying back down.

I guess that's the toughtest part of the HOS, everyone is different, and the regs need to somehow accomodate those differences-listen to me, next thing I'll be saying is we need a cleaner environment and world peace, sheez. Time for another stogie, I need to wake up...
