I was wondering what kind of miles have you guys been getting and are you getting enough pay in the two weeks to make up for the week off? Is it realistic to make a living like that?

I'm averaging between 2800-3200 a week. The key is to hold off some of the pay until your off week. Of course, it helps that I have other income as well. But you should be able to make decent money on the 14/7. I'm finding they have a tendency to really run us hard during that 14 days. I rarely sit for long and most days are around 10 hrs.

thanks for the info. Do you know if they are getting similar miles on the national 11/3 or is it not worth the trouble of trying to change fleets?

Lots depends on your domicile access to the "freight lanes" that Roehl has. For those in the TX area, a 21/4 schedule seems to work the best. With your location, the biggest thing would be getting you out of MI when you're ready to roll.
Also, it's a matter of timing to maximize the scanned miles vs dispatched miles as that affects your weekly income.:biggrin_25523:
    Good luck to you...

I'm out of Gary, IN terminal and there always seems to be plenty of miles. Works really great for me because I only live 55 minutes from the terminal.

Ok I made it through ev 1 and go with a new trainer tomorrow. This sucks because the first one was really easy to get along with. Good trainer and no yelling or screaming. Can not give out his name but he is x army and been withe company for a while. New guys if you are lucky will get him. Well in the rack and hopefully I get lucky with the next one also. And if you want to change fleets do it before you are done training.

If I do the 14/7, do you know where in GA I will exchange trucks, Ellenwood, or Carnesville, or somewhere else?

Ellenwood will most likely be your home terminal.

I think you have to live within a certain distance from the terminal to be able to be on the hometime fleets. I would not want to have to drive several hours to get to the truck, and then have to get in and drive another 9 to 11 hours, and then the same thing when returning home, after a long day in the truck, it would be unsafe to then have to drive several more hours home. Good luck with your job search...
