My Time At Steven's-Advice: RUN!!!!!

And those are normally people who are ignorant to their own failures but instead blame the company they work for...

IF you can get through a year with Stevens, you will have a large choice of companys to go to... Companys such as Tyson love Stevens drivers IF you put at least a year in with them. By that time you have driven quite a bit of Tyson product and are familar with the way they do things... Same thing can be said of Kraft and other companys... I also know several small companys that love Stevens drivers... All of them know that after spending a year with Stevens you are going to have one of the best bases of driving that someone with only a year can have. Stevens drills home safety... And if you can't drive 2400-2800 miles a week you won't be with Stevens a year... You get someone with a good knowledge base and who can drive, thats what those companys like...

I was at the Tyson yd the other day and was talking to a guy who just came through the orientation who had driven for a company who won't be named (not stevens). He said he only wanted to drive 1500 miles a week, he was retired military and didn't need to run any more than that... You just got to shake your head and wonder sometimes... How did this guy get hired anywhere!!!???

Wow,whens the last time you drove for Stevens.Training company,large fleet.Add it up,more inspections because of this.The scores are actually pretty good for the size of the fleet.The scores on the CSA MEAN NOTHING.All large companies are going to have negatives on the CSA.Nature of the beast.It doesnt have anything to do with the quality of training.

 

I never drove for those rats. Lived in DFW for over 50 yrs and talked to hundreds of the drivers left in their wake. Read the posts here for last 5 yrs. They are rats. You will learn about reefer frgt if you can take it for a yr. Will learn to sit, hunt for empties, fight for your measly pay, etc. All that is bad in the industry is exemplified by Stevens and their ilk. Hey man you like that then go for it. When I drive it is pulling a flat or step for real money. Normally OD. Life is too short to make others rich off your limited hours on Earth.

 

In your opinion everything your saying is correct.Drivers left in there wake.So you have only spoken to drivers that are no longer there.What would you expect the large percentage of those drivers to say.Oh,great company I just couldnt adapt,lol.Still doesnt mean anything as far as the kind of training you get,which was the original point.Your saying this to a driver Aracos who now drives for Tyson.He drove for Stevens and he seems to disagree with you.Did you speak to him before you formed your opinion,obviously not.And with your kind of experience you would think that you would understand the kind of posters your gonna find on here.Maybe not.And I quess since companies like Stevens shouldnt be around in your opinion,that all the new drivers are gonna be trained on your truck.Thanks for stepping up to the plate.

 

and 100s of people go to truck driving school thinking it is easy, free training, free money, with no obligations. They were looking for the easy way out, and a free ride, and found out it is work, and thne blame the company for their failure.
And it is obvious big duker, that you look down your nose at refer companies.

Life is what one decides to make of it, and if I am happy working at Stevens, and am getting paid a decent wage for my work, that is NONE of your concern. So what if the Aarrons make money from my work? a poor man can't provide the opportunity to make money.
But so many people today, think they know it all, and can tell other people that what they are doing is wrong, although they have never done it for themselves, and only repeat rumors, stories, and hate.

 

Every time I see a list of postings from someone who has never driven for a company, but continues to trash the company, the people that work there and then lump them with other companies they have never driven for...
Well I see an unhappy, disgruntled with life individual who is embittered by the choices he/she has made.

Get better? I am making $132,000 a yr.$93.500 tax free this yr. Put $84,000 into retirement last yr. Promoted to supervisor for base. Get to do what I want with my dept. Work inside when I want .Outside when I want. Get called by MCT many times a week to drive Afghan rigs onto base after being checked by dogs for bombs. Most Afghans are not allowed in past SOAK yard. I have all endorsements, hazmat, TWIC. You're #### sure not anywhere close to that at Ratville. But if you're happy then fine. I have been made honorary member of Army Special Forces for doing good job. Commander of Green Berets personally gave me his challenge coin in front of his command staff and incoming SEAL contingent. Only bad I have had is did too good a job. Got sent to another base in total disarray. 2 months later Site Manager is writing letters trying to get me another raise. But it's logistic base. No action. No Special Operators. But you go where they tell you. Don't worry about me reefer boy. When I come home flush I will either drive for someone hauling high paying OD like before or pay cash for my own rig. You get away from Stevens someday and you can have a life too. I'm just letting others looking at this industry get a both sides of the story. We all make our own choices. I've made some bad ones and hate to see others repeat them . But some know it all. I did. Then one day you wake up and it's amazing how your parents were smarter than you thought. Some of those old hands were telling you the truth. Can't handle it get off the forum. That's what it;s here for. Both sides.
