5th Wheel Plate Risers with pics

I was referred to a shop just outside Chicago to have a set of 5th wheel plate risers made. I have to say that these guys did an amazing job, weren't too pricey, and had them made in 1 day and installed the next.

Name of the company in Precision Truck Equipment located in Lansing, IL. I highly suggest them for ANY type of fab or install work. They do everything from pintle set ups, to 5th wheels to conversions.

My total bill was $855

No, now it will flow where it is supposed to instead of all the weight onto my steers.

They are 1/2" plate top-bottom and 4" center bar.

Puts my 5th wheel at 50" high now.... rememeber, I have a WS Lowmax and it already sits on the #### ground, so this will make everything better!!!

 

Why did you need to raise the fifth wheel up ? Did you put bigger tire's than what came from the factory ?

 

My truck was pulling tankers and had a tall profile like that. It was 50 or 52" somewhere in there. Had to lower mine down to 46&3/4"

 

##### that's up there a ways. The way I've usually seen it done is to just put blocks right underneath the pins on the 5th wheel, not raise the whole works up like that. But if it works, it works.

 

No, if you look in the pics, you can see that my frame rails are MUCH lower than my tires.... and those are 22.5LP's!!!!

My truck sits VERY VERY low, in fact, the front has a 8" drop axle. The 5th wheel top was at 45" and was too low to pull liquid tanker. They suggest 50"-52" and now I'm between 50-51. Before, the tank leaned forward to the front of the truck and all the liquid would be in the nose and put me overweight on the steers by about 4k pounds.

 

Why not raise the plate instead of the whole slide assembly? Thats what we did to our fuel hauler.
