    I-35W bridge collapses

The Interstate Hwy. 35W bridge over the Mississippi River collapsed this afternoon, dumping at least eight cars and a truck into the water and land below.
It was not clear how many people might be hurt or killed.
Workers have been repairing the bridge surface as part of improvements along that stretch of the Interstate.
Rescue workers were helping some people from cars in the river onto
People at the scene said the entire bridge collapsed, leaving part of the roadway submerged and part above water. A number of people were walking around on the roadway that was not submerged.

Just saw it on the news. Pretty scary stuff, the people on the news said maybe fifty cars and I saw a couple trucks on the collapsed bridge. Saw a couple fires too. My thoughts and prayers go out to those people and their familys.

I'm watching the live footage on CNN right now. Pretty incredible that a bridge like that could just fall apart. I do see what looks like a trailer in some of the pictures. An eye witness had mentioned how a truck exploded after it was hit by debris. I couldn't even imagine what it must have been like for the people on the bridge.

Terrorism is my bet. A bridge that big doesn't collapse like that just because.

Overstressed bridges and a State that would rather pay loafers to lay around than do their jobs of keeping the infrastructure sound. This reminds me of the cypress structure in Okland CA when it collapsed.

Wasn't that because of an earthquake?
