I have read through this thread..http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...ice/136721-newbies-dont-forget-a-toolbox.html
I have a similar question, but I am more interested in what spare parts you carry as opposed to tools.
ie. fuel filters, marker lights, gladhands, clamps, airline fittings etc..
Thanks
What's in your toolbox - Besides tools?

I keep atleast one air to air boot, extra radiator hoses, hose clamps, a gallon or two of coolant.
Almost forgot one, waterless hand cleaner. When you have to work on your truck on the side of the road it's always nice to clean up before getting back in the truckLast edited: Aug 21, 2011

A couple of fuel filters , a filter wrench , oil filters, drive belts, radiator hoses and hose clamps, radiator coolant, engine oil, power steering fluid, washer fluid, a couple of tubes of grease for the fifth wheel, air line antifreeze in winter, a spare windshield wiper blade or two, spare fuses , globes and a little electrical connection kit, de-mineralized water for your battery ( a jar of vaseline is good to keep to coat your battery terminals with to keep away corrosion) ,WD40 for squirting your pig tail, a good big roll of shop towel and GO-JO orange hand cleaner. Sounds like a lot but when you need this stuff your glad you have it.

Stuff like that, I'd keep in the sidebox. Fuel filters, oil filters, extra glad hand seals, fuel/oil filter wrenches, oversize flags/banners, pipe stays (I didn't haul pipe that often, so the stays could be kept in the sidebox).

I carry fuel filters, lights, coolant, motor oil, gear oil, clamps, glad hand seals, an oil hub, zip ties, tape, electrical wire and connectors, penetrating oil and some other things i can not think of at the moment. Basicaly anything i might need to keep the truck going in a pinch.

I'm local so I don't keep all the spare fluids and parts, I keep a small amount of hand tools, 7 chains, 7 binders, 3 hand straps, 1 can of pb blaster, 1 winch bar, 1 large crow bar, 1 3lb sledge hammer, 1 homemade arm extension ( i took a 4 foot piece of all-thread from the scrap pile and bent about 110 degree bend on the end to make kind of a hook, i use it to pull chains through tight places) and some spare gloves and hand cleaner.
