I am looking for fitness clubs with parking lots either attached or nearby that can fit a 53' rig. Wal-Mart plazas, shopping center plazas, and the like.

I'll send you a crisp $10 for each one you submit :biggrin_25514: with some digital photos. Send me five? I send you fifty bucks!

PM me for more info :biggrin_25525:

I am compiling a list for truckers.

(you must have a CDL to get the $)

I am a member of Anytime Fitness. Most of them can handle a 53' foot rig either by parking on the street or parking near by. There are 1300 of them. Do I get $13,000.00 now? I wish! Just kidding!

    Anytime fitness rocks!

Well, if you know of one where there is parking nearby email me at submissions@truckergyms.com and tell me. I'll paypal you :)

Our free site/phone service should be going live in a week or two! It will be easier than ever for drivers to find gyms along their route.... because we are keeping track of where they all are :biggrin_25520:

I could give you a dozen of the easily. But because of the comment about having to have a CDL to get paid, I don't think I will. Talk about discrimnation.

It has to do with making sure people know where a rig can safely be parked and maneuvered. Until I drove a 53 footer I never knew the difficulty in maneuvering such a large vehicle into different places. I want to make sure my database is accurate so drivers don't end up in dangerous situations.

I'm sorry if you view that as "discrimination."

    You really have no clue.

Some of the people on here have spouses that drive and HAVE been in the truck and KNOW quite well the problems we face.

Personally, I think your project is a waste of time. No way am I going to take a load and drive out of route to a gym. Some of these places are not in the best of town.

Also, just because you can get the truck into it, does not mean the area will allow the truck.

Most of the people on this forum know EXACTLY where we can put that rig and where we can't, whether we carry a CDL or not. And I know, because I previously held CDL permits. You are excluding alot of retired drivers and driver's wives who know a whole lot more about where they can put that truck that most of these newbs do.

I'm not angry, upset or anything for me. I'm sorry for you and the drivers you claim to want to help. You're leaving out alot of valuable information. You'd make the kind of dispatcher my husband would choose to "fire".

Thank you for your kind encouragement.

You don't have to go out-of-route to get to a gym. You just have to know a gym is along your route and that parking is allowed ahead of time.

    Hence my project.

I'm investing a great deal of time and money for this concept. I'm trying to create something to help OTR drivers who are fitness orientated.

I stopped the truck and took a shower once and they called demanding to know why it was not moving. I could just see what they would say for this.

Not to mention, the time is very close and the 14 hour window.

Load gets damaged or stolen, look out.

But, you have your project and I wish you the best on it.

I found myself stopping at a lot of Wal-Mart Supercenters to buy stuff to stock the fridge... and as I'd look around I'd see lots of gyms nearby. Had I have known they were there, near where I could park, I would much rather have worked out for an hour and taken a shower. There are 3-extra hours during a drive shift for eating and stuff.

I'm trying to create something where drivers could type in a route, see the available gyms/parking nearby, and choose ahead of time to stop 4 hours down the road for some cardio and a shower.

    You get the idea.

    And thank you.
