can anyone say anything good about CR England.

Which fleet were you on? I was on the C2 fleet as a IC.

 

I was a phase 1 trainer in western regional (Chris' fleet) and some weeks I would only get 1800-2200 miles. My student would get a better paycheck then I would!

I started calling different departments at England and that's when I found out about the container fleet. I got my TWIC card and now I average about 2900 miles a week solo, got tired of training.

I had my best week ever pay wise with CRE this week. Since my truck is paid off and I turned in 3300 miles my net check was $1893 (does not include cash advance). So I can't complain right now, but it did take 3 years to get to this point.

 

Batman is Nick Slater your DM? I hear good and bad things about him.

I took 3 weeks off and the relief driver who drove my truck actually made me money one week since his miles were so good.

That driver transferred to the local intermodal fleet out of Mira Loma, CA.

 

C2 is under the helm of Mike Tye. I never had any issues with him as my wheels were always rolling when I wanted them to be, and I was home when I needed to be.

Now my current DM is Jack Larson. So far so good. I get 2600 to 3000 miles a week as a company driver. I don't know what the story with the IC of this truck is because I had this truck for 3 weeks. That's alot of time to take off IMO. The most amount of time I took off was 2 days.

 

The relief driver that drove my truck told me some nasty stories about some of the trucks he would recover.

Not uncommon for there to be pee bottles and bags of poop left over from the previous driver, blah!

 

I'm averaging $1,000 to $1,200. When I add per diem, that equates to about $1,500. Like you, it took me a while also. December will mark 1 year with the company for me; so I can't complain either.

 

But the previous driver is gonna get a nasty suprise within the next few weeks after the damage to the truck is tallied up.

 

So it seems going company may be the correct route to go. A couple of my previous students are averaging almost the same as me plus they get the paid vacation.

Since I own my truck I have all that stress of maintaining it. Whenever my truck makes a funny noise, smell something burning or feel a strange vibration I immediately get a headache because I wonder what that repair is going to cost me.

 

Everyone is different, so I won't make a recomendation. Some people are cut out for a lease, others aren't. I for one don't have the patience to train... Especially with my own equipment. Grinding gears = get left behind at Love's and me having a nice chat with your phase I trainer.

*side note*

I accidentally left my phase I trainer behind at a rest area on my first day on the truck. Oops. LOL

 

Thats good to hear. It really makes me wonder what exactly goes on thats not being said when people say CRE "dreams" up repairs that need to be fixed that coincidentally match the same about in their lease reserve when they turn a truck in. I know I'm gonna have to have a few things that'll have to fixed when ours comes back but I just have a hard time believing we're gonna be paying for perfectly good parts with normal wear and tear that'll have to be thrown at the truck......
