I find it's helpful to remind my FM when its getting close, say your talking about a load, and your going home in 4-5 days, you can say ok I will take this load but go ahead and start looking for a load to get me home!

After dropping in MA got a short load from NH to NJ with little time to pickup. To make matters worse my trailer was a bloody mess after my trim load. Good luck finding a washout in Mass! Found one that took me about 40 miles off route to the shipper in NH. Asked the nice fellow there if he new of any place around Boston and he didn't think there was one. Got to my pickup 2.5 hrs late but was still ok to load. Driving through NY was a trip. The local drivers were whizzing by me around the GW bridge. Went under a bridge on the Interstate that said 13-5, yikes! Got the load there on time but got my first HOS violation at the reciever because of no parking on site when I got there. Sure is nice weather here after the big storm. Off to GA next.

There's a place called Mad Mikes, if your delievering in the south Boston area. Its off 495 xt 12. Will have to google his name and get his phone number. He charges out the ying yang tho. $85. Like he says, the only game in town. Your dm's should have access to the American truck and trailer repair books. They also list all the washouts that the trk stop books won't show.

Doing a repower out of the Greeley yard, up to wal-mart dc in Cheyenne, Wy, then back to Eaton, Co to pick up a pre-loaded trailer of pallets to deliver to Grang Island plant, Called pro pallet to let them know that i will be there after they are closed tonight to pick up the trailer and drop the on I have, she informs me that they do not have a JBS trailer there to pre-load, it will have to be a live load tommorrow. they are about 10-15 miles from the Greeley yard, would go to the Greeley yard picked up a trailer if I would have been informed about this. I have a preplan out of the Grand Island plant to pick up on the 31st, and deliver on the 1st back to Greeley. need a time streacher, anyone have one to loan out. FYI we dont get paid for the ramdom drug screen test, company requested and on duty time???

My appointment is for 1930 hrs. Never done a WalMart DC yet so I don't know if they are Johnny on the spot and will get me unloaded quick or if they will do me early. (he said do me) Sucks being new and having the slow process of learning the different shippers and receivers habits. I do appreciate all of the help I get from everyone on here.

Walmart DCs are all pretty much the same. Can't arrive more than 1 hour before your appointment - they'll turn you away, and must be checked in at the CTO by 10 minutes after appointment time. Must leave their property after being unloaded. Be careful to make sure you have a place to go to... many of the DCs have zero parking around them, and aggressively-enforced no-parking zones on the approach roads.

Lumping fee is $50. Almost all have a drivers lounge with vending machines and a microwave. Don't know about you guys, but my carrier charges dentention - they have us done mostly by appointment time plus 2 hours. Missed appointments usually result in rescheduling in 24 hours, although grovelling sometimes brings results!

In Grand Island, NE with the infamous Foxfire! Its a good feeling to be with a trainer that actually knows what hes doing. Today was my first day driving and i feel i did alright, he said i did good but i made a mistake that i should have never made. No huge deal i suppose but still... i want to do better than that. Fox is a great trainer and i'm really enjoying my time on his truck soo far. see u guys later, safe driving.
