I am writing this to warn all Owner Operators to stay clear of Wholesale Truck and Finance! This company has terrible business practices to say the least. I wanted to lease a truck and trailer. Looking at their website the trucks looked nice so when I was approved, I was so excited. They immediately withdrew $5000 from my account without me seeing anything nor signing authorization for the amount promising they would handpick me something nice. I didn't sign the documents on the truck (Thank God) but I did sign off on the trailer and took possession of it about 3 weeks ago. My contract stated $0 down, $533 per month with 1 month free (payments starting June 1).

When I went to see the first truck, the back yard mechanic that they had told me 1 truck was assigned to me (yes, they will assign you a vehicle you don't pick out anything). I decided to double check the vin # and noticed that it didn't match the vin on my paperwork. When I called Jon (account manager), he pretended not to know it was wrong, and then I was directed to the real truck. This truck looked terrible! It had rust everywhere, thick dirt and oil, scratches in the crome, and looked aweful!

I demanded my money back, and he refunded it promising to make it right next time around. I waited two more weeks until they got more trucks in, and I picked the best looking truck out of the bunch, and the shady mechanic advised me to hurry and put my money back down to hold it, stating that he still needed to clean and detail it for me so that it will look great when I returned. I told him to run tests on the engine, transmission, and rear differentials to ensure they were sound.

I waited a couple more weeks, never got those test results back and was told by Jon via email (at this point he wouldn't talk to me on the phone) to go back to Kansas City to pick up the truck because it was ready. I drove over 15 hours to pick up the truck, and when I arrived it looked worse than it did when I'd seen it last. There was dirt and grime everywhere, like the mechanic had walked on the cushions with his work boots on! I asked him if he'd clean like he and the company's website promised and he smarted off..telling me if I got $250 he'd clean it. He then went on to say that two of the tests came back bad on the transmission and rear differentials. He recommended I flushed the fluids and retest it after I'd driven it awhile, but warned me that no warranty would cover it if I knew before I took possession of the vehicle.

I attempted to call Jon offering to allow him to deduct $95 for detailing and $460 to have the fluids replaced and have the truck retested from the $1000 he wanted me to pay for a warranty and he dodged my calls. He sent me a nasty email stating I could take my money and go home if I didn't like the way they do business. The President, Dave, got on the phone promising me he'd make everything right and told me he'd pay my car rental and fuel to send me back home and allow me to pick out a truck in North carolina closer to my home. I spent over $500 going back home, and when I attempted to contact him the following week, he dodged my calls. I finally sent him an email stating I wanted my money back and was no longer interested in leasing a truck through them.

Dave threatened to ruin my credit by putting a repossession on my file for the trailer if I didn't return it since I didn't want one of their shotty trucks. When I got the trailer, no one said I had to get a truck too or return it. In fact, I have a seperate contract for the trailer, but they do not honor their agreements. To date, I still have not gotten a dime back from them.

TAKE MY ADVICE GO ANYWHERE ELSE FOR A TRUCK...SCHNEIDER, LONE MOUNTAIN, US XPRESS...ANYWHERE REPUTABLE.

I forgot to warn you that they will change their name. If you notice that your documents they sent you states : Mountaineer Leasing, its THEM! Bottom line, don't sign anything unless you have seen the product and are allowed to test drive the vehicle (I was told I couldn't test drive it due to insurance...go figure?).

I agree completely, they sell nothing but junk! Their trucks are worn out. I stopped one time and looked and felt like I was at a junk yard! These messed up trucks are over priced... believe me they will leave you on the side of the road. You can't make money with these trucks. That's why I bailed on them!

On the oil samples. If you get a bad sample, stay away. You will have to run it for a while to learn anything from the new fluids. It will be too late then. I don't want to find new fluids in a truck I am looking at. Surely a reputable dealer is smart enough to understand this.

    Hello

My name is David Strand and I am the president of Mountaineer Leasing DBA Wholesale Truck and Finance.

The above post by Tony Tillman is "slightly" fabricated. However, there were several accurate accounts of his experience with us. Without going into detail and picking apart his story, I will only say this: After Tony was unhappy with the condition of two trucks he chose, we returned his down payment and paid his rental car and travel expenses to get back home.

At this point, we chose to no longer do business with Tony. I gave him the address to Arrow Truck sales in Kansas City and told him they sell new trucks, because that was what he was looking for. Some inexperienced drivers have an unrealistic expectation of what a truck with 500,000 miles should look like.

Tony has received all of his money back from us as well as expenses. Any statement to the contrary is an absolute lie. As far as the trailer goes, he stole it. He took it off the lot with the truck and only returned the truck. We have filed a report with the authorities for the stolen trailer.

We have financed several hundred trucks this year with very few issues.
We offer a 100% money back guarantee to anyone financing a truck with us. (This is in writing on the deposit agreement you sign) We offer everyone a chance to test drive and inspect the trucks we provide, as well as a 7 day full warranty.

Since we are a direct lender, meaning it is our money that finances the truck, it does us no good to provide a truck in less the optimum condition. It's very simple, if the truck doesn't run, you can't make money, and we will not get our payments. This is how we differ from a traditional dealer. We have a vested interest in your success AFTER you pick up the truck.

We do our best to ensure the condition of our trucks, but sometimes there are problems. I have said this from the humble beginnings of this company... "Unfortunately, in life, there will always be problems. Your success is determined by how you handle the problems." I will do everything in my power to make a driver happy with the decision they have made to finance a truck with us, from repairs to exchanging a truck or to just returning a deposit and expenses that may have been incurred.

But no matter what you do, some people choose to live without integrity, just like Tony Tillman.

I stop reading after I saw this knowing I was about to read a bunch of bull. If it was that easy to get the money out you account with out authorization you might want to switch banks

    To Joesvengence,

We are not a traditional dealership and therefore do not have "sales lot". We purchase trucks from fleets and small carriers. In most cases, we deliver directly from one of our maintenance facililties. Claiming you stopped by and all we have is junk is simply not possible. We have an office in MI and we do not keep trucks here. I can only assume you stopped by a different company.
