There are a lot of bad reviews of all the trucking companies that are also training companies. Most are because of incorrect expectations of what this industry is about and what it takes to get the job done. Go to the seminar and make up your own mind, I think for someone in your situation it would be a good choice.

As long as you are single and do not mind being away from home for 6-8 weeks at a time, it can work out. Stevens has a lot to reccomend it, their training is very good (in the school), and if you get a decent trainer for your otr it can also be a pleasant experience. I only had one trainer that was a certified nightmare, I was the second student in a row to bail off his truck and make a formal complaint about him. As far as I was told h was removed as a trainer after that.

It's a way to start. The critical first year is what it's all about. Expect to start at the bottom, be forgotten, not get the best load or routes, and be late for your hometime, and you should do well. Be a worker not a whiner and your DM will soon know you. Besides, most of the group you start with will leave, so you'll gain seniority just by staying and working well. You're closer to their terminal so getting home should be easier than it will be for me, living in Michigan.

Good luck to you and the rest of us trying to move forward.
