Me: (on cell phone) Hi, I need directions to your warehouse, please.
Her: OK, just come down the main street to the 2nd stop light & turn left.
    Me: The 2nd stop light?
    Her: Yes.
    Me: Coming from which direction.
    Her: Coming from MY house.
Me: (chuckling) Well, where is that?
Her: Hey, I'm not gonna tell you where I live. I'm not stupid, you know. [IMG]
Me: (LMAO) OK, thanks for clearing that up. I'll try to find you. [IMG]

True Story. It actually went on more than that. I thought she must be pulling my leg, but the Receiving guy said, "Nope, that's just her. The boss's niece."

That is too funny!! I suck at directions also but not that bad I used to work in a truck stop and try and tell drivers how to get to Walmart among other places. lol

I still love getting that occasional set of directions from the company that says something like:

"...turn right at the BP Station...."

which hasn't been a BP station since 1993....it HAS been a Texaco, Kwik Fill, Bob's One-Stop, vacant, and Debbie's Pleasure Palace since then....

I always like the ones that say, "It's the last turn before..." or "We're exactly three miles before you get to the RR tracks."

Me: "Umm...is there room to turn around at the RR tracks?"

Them: "You're not listening. You don't go all the way to the RR tracks."

Me: "Yeah, but with your directions, I have to go all the way to the RR tracks and turn around and come back to be able to find you."

Them: "No, you don't, driver. We're three miles before you get to the RR tracks - you don't have to go all the way to the tracks."

Me: "Oh, so there's a sign that says, RR tracks - 3 miles?"

Them: "No, driver - you're making this harder than it has to be. Just turn in three miles before you get to the RR tracks."

So...you finally just give up and hang up and drive the six extra miles. Because you can never make them understand that the only way you can know you're three miles from the RR tracks is to go all the way to the #### things and turn around and come back.

when i started working at my current job, my bosses would give me directions that really irritated me. being from mississippi in a agriculture part i guess most people would know the name of all the farms and such. Well i didnt and boss got hot alot of the times because of that or me not knowing where someone lives that i never met before.

manager: Go down towards lewis' house and turn at that church.
    Me: Where does lewis live?
manager: hes your boss dont you know where he lives?
    Me: No.
manager: #### your dad grew up down there. Just go that way.
Me: all i know is he grew up somewhere in the country by inverness so how do i get to this farm?
Manager: Go ask Daniel to draw you a map.
    Me: Okay.

Manager: Go down to Saint Rest Shop and turn off by (Unknown older man)'s house and go down the turn road past where it doglegs.
    Me: where does he live?
Manager: You should know him he used to farm and got some old equipment piece in his yard you shouldnt miss it.
Me: im going to ask daniel for a map.

Manager: You know where this place is?
Me: No but ill ask Daniel for a map.
Manager: if you listen to my directions you would get there.
Me: if i knew where half the people you talk about lived maybe i could.

Tourist coming to town: How do i get to this place?
Southern Person that lives there a while: Yeah you go down the road a bit till you get to where it used to be John Doe's house. IT aint there no more. but he had always made the best moon shine. #### that was some good shine. Anyways. its torn down now but you turn right there and head down there a piece till you get to Miss Mables place and take a left and its straight as the crow flies.
    Tourist: Umm...okay

One thing that really bugs me....People give directions but dont say North South East West....

    For example

"Yeah its real easy just turn left on 10th st then make a right."

Am I turning east or west on 10th st.....?

    "Left"

What If Im coming from one way and youre thinking Im coming from the other way?

"Just turn left on 10th st you cant miss it.":violent1:

Looking for a place that was west of highway 35 in Ontario. Person giving me directions to this place: "Head north on Hwy 35 from the 115....then go north about 2 kilometres and you will see cty rd. 20 on your left...turn left there and that will take you right to it!" Me: "So, it is west of Hwy 35..." Him: "NO....I told you..TURN LEFT...YOU DONT GO WEST!!!" Me: "Ooooookay....Thanks."

    Sigh.

And now the new problem I am running into is NOT the good old boy directions, or the clueless, but the machine dependent that say "just punch our address in your GPS."
