9/12-9/15
This week has been a slow one. I didn't get back from Holland until Sunday morning and only had about 5 hours left on my 70 so I took Monday off.
All I got this week is a Danville Va- Perry Fla system load. I was tankwashed back to High Point after unloading. They had me go on the clock for a few hours to rescue a load from a Kingsport driver who ran out of hours 30 minutes from Ashland Chemical in Greensboro. I had put in for some vacation time starting Sunday and was hoping for either something out of Garden City or a short run here.
Looks like the vacation will start a couple of days early Heading back to work Thursday 9/22. I also heard through the grapevine that we are getting 9 new tractors in High Point. There is one sitting on the yard. Hopefully they will put my name on one of them. -
Can anyone tell me if Morrow Ga is a good terminal to run out of with Superior?
-
You would make more money running the system OTR out of there. Might have to stay out longer. I don't know how many customers they have. Almost everything I have pulled out of there comes from Stepan in Winder, Ga. -
I run out of the Morrow terminal for Superior and I believe it's an excellent terminal to run from. Rob is right that a lot of our freight originates at Stepan, but we have a smattering of other shippers in the area.
I run the system but I generally have no problems getting a load out without much delay.
If you have any specific questions I'll try to help. -
This is a somewhat strange first post, I'm more of a lurker. Any of you guys ever go to old williamsburg candle in Brooklyn? I picked up a load of wax in shreveport that delivers there Tuesday. Considering the closest I've been to nyc before this is the gw bridge, saying I'm nervous is an understatement. Any help would be great.
Little intro on me: started driving for superior out of school back in march. Worked on the tankwash at schwerman in Augusta for 4 yrs before that. -

There is a downloadable PDF file with NYC Truck routes on it. If you stick to the truck routes you should be ok.
I have never been to Williansburg Candle. My ventures into Brooklyn have been to waste water treatment plants and Atlantic Paste company. Atlantic Paste had me backing up 51st street the wrong way to get out.
I have heard drivers talk about a load in Brooklyn where you have to back onto the sidewalk between the building, telephone poles and street signs to get it close enough to reach with the hoses. Maybe someone else will chime in.
You are probably a pretty good backer if you moved trailers around at the tank wash. The worse thing about Brooklyn is all the cars that park on the street right on the corners. There are some streets you just can't turn down.Last edited: Sep 17, 2011

Any advice on the south louisiana terminal? I think the town is St. Gabriel.
-
Thanks wsyrob, I hope its not that horrible. From the sat. View on Google maps, it looks like they have some kind of a dock.
Of course the chemical unloading area will be a pipe sticking out of a wall on the side of the road knowing my luck. For good measure it will be next to a fire hydrant and a 30 minute parking sign. -
They probably stay pretty busy. Loaded once out of there at Shell. Been there a couple of times.
