Actually Stoney, I kind of like Kingman. I've always thought it would be a decent town to live in. And close enough to Laughlin. . .:yes2557:

A similar thing happened in Annapolis, Maryland along one of the main business drags (West Street) ... two Denny's within three blocks of each other. One became an independent diner and the other one stayed a Denny's.

This Denny's has made the news before ...

I ate at the Denny's in Des Moines inside the Loves on Monday night. My waitress brought me a glass of water and menu, took my order and after bringing me my food and taking my half empty glass of water to "Get me a refill" I never saw her again. I finished my meal, waited for ten minutes then I just walked up to the register to pay. Never came back to see how my food was, to ask if I wanted any dessert, bring back my glass of water or bring me my bill. I told the person behind the counter I "wanted to file a missing persons report because my waitress disappeared" and was met with a blank stare. I dont mind the food, but their service stinks.

Well, lets revive this thread again...
Ate at the Dennys at the J in Tucumcari last night. Had the Tilapia.
    I've seen bigger sardines!
The 'cheese potatoes' came to about two tablespoons.
I complained to the manager and she told me, "...portion sizes in many of our dishes changed the first of the year. We get nothing but complaints and frankly, I don't blame people. But the district managers and higher ups don't care and don't want to hear about it. They tell us to just keep the customer happy and reduce the portions. We now purchase 'small' eggs, instead of large. Bacon portions are smaller and we have cut down potato servings by 25%."
    Well, there you have it!
While Dennys is not the forbearer of an Epecurians delight, often it's my only choice, especially if I'm at the J.
Keep all this in mind if you wander into the J's Dennys. Better to have two slices of pizza from the counter up front.

And just how the hell does their DM and "Higher Ups" expect them to keep the customer happy, if the portions are reduced. That statement makes no sense at all! (Sounds just like something a low level manager would say though.):biggrin_25513:

I'm not a big fan of denny's and have always said, their portions are small for the price. I do like their double cheese burger and choice of potato. If that burger doesn't fill you, then you might need to find a buffet. :biggrin_25523:

Ate at the Denny's, Joplin Flyn' J. Wasn't impressed at all. After 35 mins the waitress told us that our order didn't print, and they are now starting it. Turned a 1 hr break into a 1 hr 45 min break.

I wouldn't think Tucumcari, NM would be the best place for seafood.

As for the reduced portion sizes, that's everywhere. A lot of restaurants are cutting back. They realize they are at a breaking point. Food prices keep rising (15% increase over last year) but they can't really raise menu prices much more. So they lower portion sizes to steady costs. Anyone in trucking should be able to relate. Costs go up, wages stay the same, quality of drivers has gone way down.

As for Denny's compared Flying J, I rather have Denny's. I never had a good meal at a Flying J. All the food tasted bland to me. I was off the road when the change over happened. My only experience with Denny's was at 3 am drunk off my arse. It was always tasty then.

denny is the hungry persons nightmare. the one in cullman al tried to give me a togo box that had been dropped on the floor right in front of me. didnt go to another one for 3 years. ok, so i decided to try again while on the road with hubby. boy was that a mistake! the menu has been shortened and not in a good way. we wanted a "super bird" to go. there was one driver already waiting for his order. 30 minutes later he got his order and left. ok so no one is wondering why we are still standing there. suddenly, this last guy comes back with the wrong order. it was ours! then the gal at the register wanted us to take the food that not only had come back, but was now cold? no i dont think so and told her we wanted a fresh meal. another 30 minutes later we got our meal but it was terrible! for a simple sandwich it was crap. i know how to fire off an email, and now dennys fears to hear from me. but they wont have that problem in the future because i will not be back.
