The company wins on many fronts in addition to these.
Lower employee cost. No health insurance or fringe benefits.
Lower cost on equipment. No fuel, maintenance and etc.
Ability to flow cost to their "Partners".
Insulates the company from fuel price problems and allows them to lower freight fees and still maintain a very large profit percent with these savings.
I am quite sure no company is losing in the lease business.

Well it may have been in this thread or another so I can't quote but someone else said it right I think . These companies are going to do what is in the best interest of the company first. With this being said that means the driver is still second. But the question is if any of these companies are protecting themselves but at the same time providing a program that helps a driver long term that the driver can actually succeed at and complete. By complete I mean run out the lease finish the buyout and still take home enough after all expenses every week to provide for momma and the kids. Me personally I would need to average about 800 weekly even though some weeks are slower than other thats why I said average. With all the programs I have personally looked at I just don't see that happening. But if I am wrong please let me know I would be more than happy to investigate anyone's claims because personally I would like to own my own truck at some point though I don't just see it happening through a lease purchase program!

BigJohn, I thought the same thing until talking with an analyst that covered the transportation industry for a term paper this year. He said that they do not let them get away with this because it is still a liability to the company. Even with the companies putting all this into different companies they still have the liability for the equipment when it is not leased.
Other industries could get away with these tricks but they tend to be industries that are generating a lot of capital markets business and the people trying to sell them services dont want to have their analyst being the ones that call their books into question.
Also learned that a leased truck averages more miles than a company truck. No shock there. But this is the primary factor for lease programs for companies that have more freight than drivers.BigJohn54 Thanks this. -
