I love automatic, I was driving 13, 10 but why to shift it can be done for you
However everybody is different, some people love to work with machine, be part of it, it's their passion and I understand it.
I'm traveler and like the views, if my truck is clean, in the safe state, mechanically sounds great, OK
    I don't like Cadillac's with standard transmissions

I love my Uncles 18 Speed, He allows me to drive it around the block (Business Property) and When he was working for prime he had an automatic, As a "Soon-to-be student" I must say even I would take the 18 speed over the auto any day just because The feel and the moments and the *Dare i say* Grinding of the gears (I've gotten much better though).

There are some vids on YouTube of Aussie s driving 18 spd Autoshifts. Never seen one here. Guy was skip shifting and other stuff. Seemed to really like it.

FYI, I spoke with a USX driver yesterday and said their fleet is 'Quickly' going back to manuals.

I always turn off the engine , when Im not driving,
This is 21 centuary and time to get out off the hole, oil is dirty.

There are many things to do in the truck instead shifting
I drive 10 speed and I would go for automatic any time , the problem is to keep up my skills , my 65 coming soon and driving test every year

Kaf, don't worry about the skills test, if you are driving now, you can pass with an auto or a 10 speed, I'm 68 and pass every year, may polish 7th once and awhile but it goes in.

Some one called me BuddyBaker once and it stuck, not sure why:biggrin_25510:

Nothing beats coming out of the GW bridge toll plaza at 6am, drinking a cup of coffee and letting the automatic do the work, priceless.

GoalieDon and Big Duker Thank this.

I do prefer automatics while bobbing or empty, but granny gears can be a blessing while loaded on some of these oil roads...
