SOME, bull haulers are the biggest waste of skin to come down the pipe.

I find 60% of them THINK they are cowboys, or tough guys, BECAUSE they haul bulls and cattle. Hauling livestock does not make you a cowboy, and even if you are a cowboy, being a real cowboy doesn't make you tough either. Working with bulls does not make you a champion fighter.

I understand the time constraints and with livestock, you have to go go go. However, what is it worth WHEN the #### hits the fan? You could get away with cheating like that for 15 years, but sooner or later you will ALWAYS get caught. It is never a matter of IF, it is ALWAYS, WHEN!

Do you want to go to prison because some stupid teenage kid with his Honda civic rear ended you? Not your fault you say? If your found to be cheating, the law will deem you at fault, why? Because had you not been cheating, and parked 100 miles back down the road, you would not have been there to be crashed into.

Did one trip with a bull wagon many years ago. I learned then, I was not cut out to be a bull hauler. The reality is (in my opinon) those guys are not paid enough to do what needs to be done legally and safely. As Bullhaulers Wife said...should be teams for longer runs. But there just isn't the money to make that a reality.
When I see them coming, I just get out of the way.
The fastest moving trucks on the highway are the bullwagons and FedX.
But I almost never see a bullwagon turned over in the median.
    Now who's the better drivers?

I wonder how CSA is going to impact that segment of the industry. I will venture it will be negatively. At least until the DOT guys in DC cant get those really good steaks anymore...

I know a few Bull Haulers, respect them very much since they do some long pulls and the hours are crazy hard on them.

The meat mafia takes it out of them every chance they get and yes it is always the drivers fault, I do know that 99.9% of everyone having a CDL could not do the job they have.

Never pulled a Bull wagon and never will, but do respect those that do.

Never say never. Hubby said that when he started running OTR too, then he became an O/O and the first thing he jumped into hauling was a bull wagon. :biggrin_2559::biggrin_25525:

Funny how his words came back to bite him. :biggrin_25523:

Bull racks are a challenge, for sure. You never know what kind of a load your going to get. One time at the sale barn in OKC he was like 18th in line. Well, they came and got him, and said "your going first". The bull that was part of his load was tearing up the pens, and they wanted him outta there. :biggrin_25521:

Needless to say they helped hubby load that load, which is really unusual, most times, your relying on other drivers to help load, or your on your own. Not that time, they wanted that bull off the property as fast as they could get him in the wagon. :biggrin_25523:

I personally have no problem teaming. Does anyone here complaining about us have a problem paying more for their beef? There is not enough money in it to be profitable for teams. Some can't make it work with a single driver. Alot of what I do is dangerous, some of it illegal. I do what I do to put food on the table for my family and yours. Don't like what I do stop eating meat.

First off, The driver didn't injure anyone else in this crash. Secondly, The new hours of service haven't changed thesafety ratings of most companies or drivers since they have been inacted according to every article I have read since the new hos rules have been in place. Thirdly, I have been the passenger in the cab with my husband as he has had to try and pull a truck and trailer into farms that I wouldn't dare try in a pick up truck. Bull haulers that most of you all see are out on the highways, which is the only time that they can pick up for lost time. The pick up spots, in backwoods Virginia are dangerous and I can imagine that most truck drivers would turn around with their tails between their legs before they attempted to drive down some of these lanes in an attempt to pick up a load of cattle. Don't judge any driver until you have been in his or her shoes. Picking up loads at the stockyards and delivering to the plant is the minority of cattle loads not the majority. Most of the loads heading to plants come directly from farms and farmers, which requires a driver to have skills beyond the average CDL holder. In closing, the new HOS rules have done only one thing in this country, allowed everyone that drives to be comfortable living like a walmart worker. Underpaid, unappreciated and unhappy. God bless you all as you travel the highway.
