    Regarding truck maintenance:

I follow several friends from other companies. They have breakdowns at least as often as Joe and I do. We are currently in an '09 Kenworth, but we were in a '07 Freighliner. For major breakdowns, we've had a super-single blowout (they removed the SS tires and replaced them with duals) and several minor repairs. We are not usually on hold for repairs; when we do get repairs and get them done in Missoula, they are done right. Haven't used most of the other shops except Santa Fe Springs... we try to use that one just for tires and oil changes.

I've never had anyone inspect anything except my logs (once) in my six months here. I do a real pretrip every morning and we catch nearly every maintenance issue before it's a real issue (blowing a tire due to road debris, for example, is hard to catch!). Even if you get a fixer truck when you first start out, you can get it running well by the time you're done with probation by pretrips and maintenance.

    Hope that helps. :)

    Kevin Cole Thanks this.

Please please check with your recruiter about the c-pap machine first. I'm not sure W/S has any restrictions there, but I know some companies do... and I'm not sure what they are. The best way to run with W/S is to be upfront about everything.

Don't worry about your first load yet... you will have plenty of time to worry once that first qualcomm message goes off! :biggrin_25520: For now, relax, learn everything you can, and get ready for orientation. You can do it!

Yea I think c pap is ok bc a guy in the class behind mine had one, but ask of course. Orientation was a fun process for me but tim did a great job of training. As did matt and rl. Kelby seems like a good guy but I trained in conover not missoula so I dunno. Make sure you have the basic skills down. If not, ask for help. Talk to the experienced drivers every chance you get. Face time is better than online, trust me. And try not to be too worried or nervous, there's enough time for that when you pull through the scales. :D Other than that just sit back, listen, and have fun. Oh and your brain needs to be a sponge too.

Talk to Kristy in recruiting, I thought Watkins and Shepard had there own DOT doctor but I guess not, SO I am going to be delayed a week because my doc doesn't have any appointments. Till October 3rd, He will check my health and give me a DOT physical going to get my cholesterol checked c pap and BP
