When i read these posts i get so mad.I'm not a driver, but my Husband is and had this happen to him too.I just don't get how these companys can do this to a human being,,,,,,,,,they warn people every year about leaving kids and animals in hot cars/suvs etc,,,,,,,,,,,,,but its OK to have a Trucker "sleep" in a hot truck????:biggrin_25513:
Yeah they go home to a cool/warm place at night to sleep,,,work in cool or warm office,so they dont have to CARE,,,,,,,never mind this driver is not rested and drives a huge vehicle down the highway and could cause all kinds of problems or be unsafe.
These companys NEED to respect all the hardworking drivers they have and stop abusing them.So what if "he" choose this job or company,,,,,,thats how he/she feeds her family and makes a living, that does not mean he/she can be treated any less then they want to be treated.
I guess these things will not change,,,,,,,these companies will mess with the pay,,,the miles,,,,the hometime,,,,and basicly dont care!!!!
And all those watch dogs and "rule" makes talk a good game but are useless in fixing the issues,,,,,,,,,,so it goes on and on,,,,always at the drivers exspens.I DONT KNOW HOW THEY SLEEP AT NIGHT!!!!

OH well just had to vent(plus only had 1 cup of coffee so far,,lol)

Hope for better days,,,,,,,,,you all stay safe.

    Another Karl Marx wannabe?

It is not stupid to expect someone who is a grown person to exercise personal responsibility.

If Knight says we have APU's come on down, that would be one thing, but they don't. They say we have a idle policy and we ain't buying APU's. And until we can't get people to work here without them or it is made standard equipment this is are policy.

I frankly am tired of people who want there hands held and think they have some rite to tell a company screw your policy's I want to work here and this is what I want while I am working here.

Should all company's that have a idle policy have APU's? Sure, but if they don't you or anyone else has the rite to seek employment elsewhere.

It's people like you who can't get 2 brain cells to work together and after being handed a plate of poop to eat complain about the taste afterwords. And as long as those sheep permeate the industry Knight has no incentive to put anything on a truck as long as they are in compliance with OSHA regs.

kids and animals dont have a choice to either sit in the hot car or not, the driver has a choice to idle, the truck does idle, you just have to know the process of how to cancel it. the temps are "below 65 and above 75" the driver can cancel the idle shut down.. the driver has to "WAIT" for the dash to say "idle shutdown" and then either hit the brake pedal, pull the hand valve, tap the clutch, or tap the fuel pedal. it will cause the idle shut down light to go off the the truck will idle non stop until you either move it or shut it off, then it restarts the whole process again.. and keep in mind that if the driver doesn't like the policy they can always quit, they always have that option unlike the kids or the animals in the hot cars.. and not all dispatchers and dumb... it's kinda a luck of the draw with them, and i managed to luck out. which terminal are you out of?

i had this problem with a company i went to work for but, i knew the policy b4 i went.
they said some trks have idle limits and some have apu's.
mine had an apu. only thing was it was a wore out alliance did'nt cool worth a ####.
how to fix that problem.. find a stick or as in my case a twig of a tree branch. lodge it between foot pedal and bottom of dash. Truck will idle for ever. This will work on any trk no matter how they have the idle shut down set. on mine nothing you could do to overide it. Not even just settn the trlr break and not the parking break nor cruise control nothing!
I used the stick method untill i got hired on somewhere else. week an a half later ..:biggrin_2559:
As for knight i went to their orentation that was b4 i knew about this site, walked out the middle of second day LOL!!!!!!. Would'nt of even been there in the first place had i been able to research on here.
Granted you have to to take these post with a grain of salt but, when you have as many people making about the same type of claim on a company you have know there is somthing to it.

Pull the trailer brakes, push in the tractor brakes. Works for our trucks.

    Or get a big stick.
