My last truck would hang the electrical cable up behind the plug and rip it half off the cab when you made a sharp turn. Found that out the hard way, then found out at the nearest shop that the last driver of that truck had done the exact same thing in the same customer's lot. Fixed it with a bungie over the lines.

Used to carry 4x4's 8 feet long in a stack across the catwalk secured with two bungies. DOT never said anything about them.

I figure it this way: I'll tie the DOT man down with my bungies and if he can get loose on his own, he can write me all the tickets he wants.

I think it was that cooler that caught their attention, though. I would have that held down by an actual strap to the frame with a bungie holding the lid shut. I bet they'd have let that slide. Cause if you think about it, they can't see what's in the cooler. You could have 100lbs of chains stuffed in there held down by two little bungie straps. And no doubt, that's what some genius had in his cooler, they found it, and now they're all in a tizzy over it.

While the weekend warrior sort that has enough stuff dragging behind his SUV that it is just lacking a just married sign never gets pulled over.:biggrin_25525:

Though have to ask, if bungees cannot hold a broom in place, how in the world are they allowed on tarps?

Yeah, really. They can hold 270lbs of tarps at 70 miles an hour but can't hold down an air line. The stupid is spreading.

I have a rubber bungie across my catwalk for my airlines and pigtail when I am not hooked to a trailer. I don't have one of them fancy mounts to hook them into when I am not hooked up to a trailer. DOT has yet to say anything about it. If they did then I would ask them which is better. No strap and risk the lines getting tangled up when going down the road bobtail or a strap to make sure they stay in place. Heck I have seen guys rolling down the road with their airlines and pig tail just laying on the catwalk with nothing holding them in place.

So, tarp straps are now called bungees?

...let alone some of the home-made and otherwise out-of-tune units blowing out noxious fumes to adjoining rigs. Had that happen to me several times over the past year. Fortunately, I usually start early and end early, enough so that I can move to a different spot if I sense a problem.

That's the #### truth. I wish I would have counted the number of mattresses by the side of the road I've seen since January 1st. Not to mention chairs, coolers, tops of cooling units of motor homes (the plastic housings), etc....

    KRAKAJACKJONSON Thanks this.

Load securement regs a North American so it doesn't matter if you drive a truck in Canada, the US or Mexico...they are same.

Bungee cords have zero value in regards to load securement therefore anything secured by them is considered an "unsecure load". There's no issues with hyd lines remaining connected...just more truck driver drivel OR a zealot at the scale.
