What tickets do you need to work there? Is it lots of out of town work?

What is a Vac/Combo/Steamer truck and what is required of a driver in a camp enviroment?

 

vac/combo, is a industrial vacuum that sucks dirt and sludge off the ground or out of tanks. combo means it has a hot water/steamer pressure washer mounted on it. they can thaw out frozen stuff, or washer oil spills off of stuff. it is a very dirty job that is greatest demand the colder it is , but it can pay very well. training is typically "on the job" and takes 1-3 weeks to master the machine

Im considering heading out west from Nova Scotia once I graduate and finish my internship. But i don't know what's out there other than Vac Trucks. I'd prefer to haul freight

 

It would be a mistake ( in my opinion) to just get a license and go to a company where you are hardly driving- that should be for guys who are burned out by the road. The thing is, theres a lot to learn and a lot to forget and it would hurt a heck of a lot more to lose skills and capabilities that you only just started learning- those skills don t just come by sitting in a drivers seat being stopped all day long.

 

^^ this is why i would like to haul pipe or breakdown rigs or something.

 

Freight= No Money! Oil Patch Work= Big Money !! Like I've said before. The jobs are here. If you want one, get off you duff, walk away from the computer, (after you've printed your resume $ get that duff to Alberta, (before spring breakup in April) knock on a door or two and go to work. It really is that simple. All the second guessing and trying to figure it all out from 3000 km away is going to get you nowhere. My cousin from Peterborough Ontairo took my advise. His duff showed up here two weekends ago. He was offered 37.50 and hour, 700.00 a month living expenses and up to 4000.00 in moving expenses to get his duff and stuff out here. He got it because he was standing in Tri Cans door. Not playing with his computer. He is leaving on the second of January. He starts on the 13. So what are you going to do?
