Thing is though... Canada got its budget problems worked out while we are rapidly trying to destroy our economy. Canada is not quite as socialist as they were. They trimmed back on a lot of big government waste. We just keep piling it on. Used to be that the Canadian dollar was only worth about .67 in US. Now the Canadian dollar will buy more than a US dollar. While maybe their environmental police are making sure that trucks stay compliant, at least they have a solid economy and are watching us make fools of ourselves.
Cummins isx egr and turbo problems.

Not really. A reprogram of the ECM to delete EGR and DPF functions is around $2500-$3000 according to Don Jenner at JBall Electronics that does it. You can take the DPF filter out of the can and just leave the DPF can in place like a muffler. You can either just leave the EGR in place or remove. Either way, it is non functional. Unless one really digs into the system, there is no visual way to tell that any modification had been done. If you picked up .5 mpg with the mod, you would ROI in well under a year.
Some of us are not quite so inclined to make sure we "toe the line" with the man. I have had my EGR non functional on my '06 ISX for well over 400,000 miles with great results and have never even given a remote thought to the possibility of the Green Police having a cramp over it. And Mr. DOT has enough trouble trying to keep track of the FMCSA stuff regarding my truck. I doubt the average DOT cop could even locate the EGR on an engine let alone figure out if it is working. -

I have to agree with Mr. Haney, I would have gotten a PDI tune to eliminate all those EGR problems.

Egr question to the knowledgeable: egr has two plugs, on the pre 2007 isx. Lower - 6 o'clock and upper: 3 o'clock.
What do they read/do - each plug?
I have taken the egr valve apart to clean it, putted it back together and installed it : this code came up : Mid 128 #pid 27 fmi 4. Thoughts?
The Egr guts came out on me - I've reinstalled it back the best of I knew how.
Correct me if I'm wrong : every time the cold engine starts, the valve should pull up and its motor whine, if you use the doctor's listening device on it, will be heard. I've Plugged the valve on, while the side cover was off, turned the key on and the valve went up / closed.
Now, from what I've written up, anyone can tell me where I've screwed up? - is there the egr position device ? Can the valve over travel - if so , how?
Thanx. -
One more thing, my vgt was replaced by the dealer.

Where you screwed up? You let it move again. And it moves in a wrong way now, the 3 PM connector goes to the EGR position sensor, ECM using it to sense EGR movement which gotta be EXTREMELY precise (up to 1% - that's why so many teeth) or you get codes. At this point the only way to fix it is to disable any movement. Especially if you just invested in new turbo. Keep it clean

Gears need to be in relation to each other.
Thanx.
