I'm sorry to hear that as well.

I have a question. I graduated school in Feb. 2010 and have been hauling steel since March.

Had I known Con-Way hired students, providing they pass all the tests, I would have applied then. They were hiring like mad up until the week I contacted them. I had talked to the terminal manager a couple of times, he seemed interested, then the hiring freeze was put into effect that week.

I have called a few times since then and been told they are looking to start hiring again February to March or so.

I was hurt and put on workers comp for 6 months.

I wonder if that will hurt me when going for a job at Con-Way when the time comes. I have a feeling that's why I was sent for the drug test and physical for one company and passed....then was told by HR that my app was pending. They didn't hire me. I know that workers comp is put on your DAC.

Anyone know Con-Way's policy on the matter? And anyone know when they will actually start hiring again?

Hey Jakebrake12, what's Con-Way Freight's policy on concealed carry in their vehicles? Also, where do I find information on the region each terminal covers? Thanks!

Uh it would be under no circumstances. I'm super pro gun but I woulòd never pack at work here - just no need imo.. If you want it in your car for the commute I would say keep it to yourself.. The second you let someone know it becomes everyone's business..

Not sure how you find a terminals coverage area. I've worked here for over 8 years and have never seen a map. My best advice would be to call the closest one to find out..

Thanks Jakebrake. I take it that Con-Way doesn't deliver to any shady areas that you know of? What you say makes sense because I certainly don't want anyone to know I have a firearm one way or the other.

Not so much man. Freight delivers to every area in every city. I'm a second amendment guy but you just shouldn't bring this up here..

So, you're saying I shouldn't bring a firearm on one of Con-Way's trucks because they don't allow them, correct? If they don't allow them, then I certainly wouldn't do it.

When I went thru their orientation we were told they have no policy on having a firearm in the truck. He said that you could but the only problem you would encounter would be going into Canada. He said there were lockers at the terminal on the U.S. side but there was no guarantee that you would enter the U.S. where you left. This applied to the Truckload side. Don't know about the Freight side.

I bet Illinois would be a whole 'nother issue as well. What would be bad would be having to go to a shady area and then need one and not have it. :biggrin_25524: My kids already lost one parent already. :biggrin_2557:

That has to be a T/L policy not Freight's.
