    Thank you!!
I am a positive person...sometimes overly so. But, I like it that way. I go into things "knowing" it will work out. I do my best to make it a positive in my life. I know that there will be good and bad in everything..

    Lilbit Thanks this.

GOLD MINER, if you're a vet you can also go to your local VA office. The VA will pay for college if you made less then 50K last year. they don't care what degrees you currently have. I used it when I got laid off in '04.

Yeah, Avenger, I was in the Navy in the 1970's and used my VA benefits to get my Masters Degree (Alot of good that did me)... Anyway, I checked and can not use it since I already did and it is too old.

not sure the name of the program. I had used up all my college bennies as well, plus had been out too long for anything else. when I got laid off I just happened to be at VA office for one thing or another and the guy got to talking to me about schooling. he asked how much I had made the previous year. With the layoff tanking my money it was under the 50K limit.
I had to get approved but after that it was money in the bank, not a lot but it did pay for another degree.
Had to bring them a proposed schedule and then had to remain in class and passing.
this was not a GI Bill or Army college fund type thing. This was simply a Veteran Benefit of some sort. Just a grant for school.
Don't cut yourself short by saying you don't qualify if you haven't actually checked. It only took a few minutes to do the paperwork and was well worth the effort.

Just throwing it out there for anyone interested.

Wow! That sounds great! I wish you knew the name of the program so that I could ask specifically about it. What I've found about both our vet reps and workforce people is that they'll try to tell you no to get you to go away UNLESS you walk in armed with knowledge and let them know that you know what's available and that they can't BS you.

have to admit these guys were pretty good. It was them who suggested it and went the extra mile to get me in.
Most of them are vets and their office isn't generally busy though so they were happy to have something to do I think. LOL

You were fortunate to have such an experience.

I wish that were the case around here!

    I think he's talking about the G.I. Bill . http://www.gibill.va.gov/
Seems a shame to waste it on a CDL mill though . :biggrin_25513:
