Agreed. But, please realize newbies don't know what you know or how to deal with it all. We KNOW all this, they do not. It is easy for us to say it isn't that bad when we KNOW what not to put up with. That's true, if they don't have a good work ethic (and, most don't now), they will fail. I tried sticking with the career until the hell was too much to stomach anymore. You know what I mean with 3 years off. I have had off around 1.5 years now myself. Now, I LOVE what I do on the net and where I work. Trucking DID help me out in getting out of it actually. I would not want to go back in the current situation. We try to stop newbies from having to endure the hell some of us did BEFORE they go there. We want people to become truckers, but realize that the better informed they are the better life they live. A lot of other trucking forums will blow smoke up your butt in an effort to monetize you, we will NOT. We are always going to be controversial because we do not bow down to JB Hunt and the other recruiters, like The Truckin' Bozo, and all these other trucker forums...but we will stay course no matter what it takes. When that one person thanks us and says you were right...it is worth it, a life is bettered.

Magic, best of luck to you! I am also starting my new career soon. I'll start school on Oct. 1st., then on to Anderson. I hope its half as good as I am told, and not as bad as companies heard about here! I will be going out on my own in the winter also, just take it easy and you'll be fine.
Wise one and all other experienced truckers: THANK YOU! I am not entering this with blinders on thanks in large part to all of you. You have helped keep me clear of slick web sites and recruiters B.S. . I am not as young as Magick and have had to deal with being lied to and not paid as a contractor, funny, I must be a glutton for punishment! Again, thanks!

 

I do realize that newbies don't have the knowledge that I and others have, I don't think I was trying to dispute that.

And I also know what your intentions are with the site here. I am not debating that, or anything about this site or any other site. No need to try to defend what you are doing here, as you are doing a great thing.

My whole point here is that when you look at the negative posts about trucking companies, 90% of it is people who don't know what they are getting into, or if you look a little deeper, it is actually something that is the drivers fault, yet they are looking for someone else to blame. (Just look at how many people complain about bad DAC reports, after blantantly admitting that they did something to deserve it)

This is why forums like this need to exist, but at the same time, people need to realize that a high percentage of the complaints are things that could have been avoided, or can actually be pointed right back to the driver, not the company.

 

True, I agree, thanks for replying. Well, that is a problem that we deal with...how do we make sure we keep one-posting, disgruntled employees separated from the real truth? It is a problem I have struggled with for over 4 years now with this forum. I just hope that members can use their heads and weed through the disgruntled ones to get to the real ones.

 

Delete all the ones that don't offer any sort of explanation, or simply make no sense. This was my suggestion in the past

the ones that always make me laugh are the ones where a driver takes it upon himself to tell dispatch that he is bringing the truck back to the terminal, then deadheads 400 miles back to the terminal. Next thing you know, they are posting how horrible the company is for giving them a bad mark on their DAC.

 

Hm, well that is not so easy from what I have found. I have done that before and, later, it turns out they were right. Deleting members is not my favorite thing to do. Or, did you mean posts? I agree, I WANT to be as fair to trucking companies as possible here.
