This is CLAIR , the original poster. Thank you all for the education. I had little idea how truck transportation actually worked before. I now know that what may appear to be little more than an inconvenient rolling roadblock is just folks working with the tools at hand. I must say the highways I helped build in the 60s could never have foreseen today. Thanks again for sharing. If someday a black Mercury Marauder flashes his lights at you for no apparent reason it's just me saying hi and safe journey.

That is funny and I know that stuff happens. We had a saying over in the Philippines. You can take the girl of the bar but you can't take the bar out of the girl....Kind of like you can train a driver to be safe and expalian good sound judgment OTR; but you can't take the idiot out of the driver. Agendas agendas.

Or the passing truck has an idiot driver that shouldn't be trying to pass if his truck can't get the job done!

What should the driver do instead when he's going faster than the truck in front of him? Just keep going and push the front truck down the highway?

Didn't you know? When you get your BillyBigRigger (TM) secret decoder ring, that entitles you to hog the hammer lane and be PO'd anytime you have to use your brakes.

I agree with you some of these guys are trying to make up some time in the work zones...Bad idea...Get a ticket in a work zone & see what it costs you..

I'm in a governed truck, the only problems I have is when I pass someone and they want to play the speed up game, it gets quite frustrating but if I'm fairly light I can usually pass them up a hill when they have no choice to slow down. I do slow to the posted speed limit in construction zone, usually the ones passing me there are four wheelers and the big fancy owner ops. I had to laugh though, today I was going out to Tooele, UT to pick up a load, right before the exit a driver was screaming because I was doing 62 in the slow lane, with a 75 mph speed limit, there are 2 exit lanes all he had to do is go around. If I'm on a 2 lane I will get off to the side when I can to let people go by. Were all out here together, supporting families, paying bills, we should be trying to give advise and not bicker, or cussing people out on the c.b. It makes everyone look bad.

If it was Nascar, the faster one could bump the slower and maybe move him out of the way to complete the pass. It is very dangerous for everyone when truck drivers forget to be a little courteous.

Truck speed in CA and OR is 55mph, anything faster and you'll be cited. Commercial driver citations are tripple than the regular four wheeler ticket.

    Something to think about.
My governed truck does 62. That's all it will do. If I slow down, I loose that time. Mr. Billybigrig and his super truck will go as fast as he wants it too. If he is inconvenienced for a few seconds or even a few minutes, he can mash the gas and make up the time, I can't. My truck will only go as fast as the governor will allow.
So just who needs to be showing who the courtesy, the truck that can make up the lost time or the person who can't? Why is it the person who can make up lost time is always the biggest whiner? What makes you think your any more important than anyone else, just because your truck has. Few mph more?
Show some courtesy to those who can't make up the time!!! Respect is earned. I have no respect for a whiner with a fast truck.
And why is it, that as fast as some of these fools are that I keep being passed by the same #### trucks 4-5 times a day? I always laugh when after being passed by the same trucks over and over there they are at the end of the day, in the same truck stop I'm at.

    Rant over.
