Hello there...I have been with John Christner Trucking or JCT, for a couple of years in the lease purchase deal. Since they decided to use e-logs, my miles have dropped off badly. The pure aggravation of the dispatchers arguing with me is making me bonkers. You can't plan because by the time you get empty or loaded you are already not going to make the next appointment. I have not been a driver very long - a little under 10 years, but never have I been treated like such a child. Once you get on their bad side, look out! I say all of this so others can be advised!

I am wondering if I go to the yard and terminate my lease what happens to the performance money and maintenance money I have in my account. It is a sizeable amount. Will they hassle me over it or will they just cut me a check? My truck is in great shape. Can anyone share their stories? Thanks a million.

Step 1) Photograph EVERY inch of the truck including tires!!
Step 2) Have them sign off on a visual inspection sheet (no dents, scrathes etc)
Step 3) Make sure they know you took photo's of every inch of the truck
Step 4) Turn in all company issued items and have them sign off that they received items in good working condition
Now that all that is done, clean the inside to near spotless and have them sign off on that.

The reason I say do all this?? Because they will try to nickel and dime you out of every penny left in your performance money and maintenance money accounts.
And if I'm not mistaken by law they have 45 days to issue you a check for any kind of escrow or bonds, which all that information is suppose to be in your lease tthat you signed.

If they do have to repair the truck after you turn it in, you are entitled to the work orders of the parts they replaced, all though they could just make stuff up since it is their shop.

Not anytime soon as the court ruled they are believe it or not unconstitutional!

Now OP do NOT just go in and quit! GO HOME!
    unload the truck
clean it out completely and scrub it from top to bottom then take pictures of the interior with the date stamp on it then put just enough clothes in the tuck for 1 bag that will either fit in a cargo hold and one carry on.

write a very concise Voluntary termination letter giving them 2 weeks notice to the HR department and send it return receipt requested or just track it through the USPS. When it is delivered and you will know it when you are notified by email then send a I'm giving you a 2 week notice on Q-Comm or People net. Take pictures of all screens concerning this and remember you can get copies of this through the carriers offices with a subpena. It doesn't matter if the idiots in your office delete them they stay of the owners of the satellites servers for in case of some legal matters! Then wait for a few minutes and then call them and record the call if you want just for proof and tell them NICELY that you are giving them a 2 week notice.

IF they bring you to the yard TAKE MORE PICTURES with the geo tracking turned on in the cell phone or camera but be sure that you get one with the mechanic inspecting the truck and another one in front of the building with the name in it or a sign on the property. Also do a few more picture of all the tire wear, the complete body and the engine space so that you don't receive some stupid bill for tires of sme bull crapola most BFIs try to do!

Also come out with a SIGNED inspection report from the company BUT when you call in ask them if they will give you a signed inspection report. If they say no then stop at the nearest truck inspection shop NOT a scale house and pay for a complete inspection. It's cheaper that way over some moron collection agency looking for the cost of a full set of tires or some fake body work!

IF they tell you to drop it at some far away place tell them to either email that to you private email address OR fax it to you! DO NOT TAKE THEIR WORD! They WILL screw you with an abandonment! Seen it done too many times! If they refuse that then tell them you're taking it to a wrecker impound yard that will charge them big bucks to get out and tell them it's cheaper to fax those directions to you because you will not fall for some BS claims and a bad DAC.

Make then prove that you abandoned or trashed out or tore up the truck!Picture ARE worth a thousand words when it comes to that BFI DAC report! CYA!

Jesus H Christ, cpttuttle, Infrared61ranger, please type correctly and don't use texting slang. Use capital letters at the start of your sentences and periods at the end!

    Thank you.

Isn't what happens to the money spelled out in the lease agreement?

I was thinking the same. I'm sure it is. If you can't read it. spend a couple hundred for an attorney to decipher. That'd be worth the investment anyway if you've a couple K's tied up in their accounting.

You would have to be able to READ in order to understand a lease agreement.
