Punt his butt. No excuses, no reasons. If he is too stupid to dial the phone, or have someone else dial it for him, that tells you how much respect he has for the guy signing the checks. Too simple.

Hi guys, sorry for the late reply, as you guys know he called me and told me the whole story, so I thouht long and hard... I will give him one more chance to see if this is just BS or its really true. The only reason I am doing this is because he seems like a hard working guy that wouldnt do stuff like that, but who knowss. I will keep you guys updated on what happends.

    RickG and SHC Thank this.

Something similiar happened where I work at. We have random drug testing, and everyone knows it. Every month 2 names are pulled from a hat for drug testing. One month a guy's name was pulled, not only did he didn't show up for the test, we never saw him again,,,,period! And he was a middle aged guy with grandkids plus a part time fire fighter!

I read this whole thread carefully. It's pretty obvious that it's BS, hands down.

It would take him less than 2 minutes to pick up the phone, call you and say, "I've had a death in the family, I can't cover the load. Sorry, but I have things to tend to....."

Then you could have taken the right steps to cover your freight.

Any major company would terminate an employee for not calling in for whatever reason, unless the driver could prove he was in some situation where he could not get to a phone.

Trapped in a mine, comatose, incarcerated (although, most people who wind up in jail will have a relative get a hold of you ...).

If he is 49 years old, he should have been around the block enough by now to know the deal.

No, Sir, you have a problem child with a CDL on your hands. :biggrin_25513:

    Good luck.

That's a refusal. I hope you took appropriate steps to report it as such.
