I didn't have a problem with PATT until they joined with CRASH . They had a legitimate issue with driver fatigue .
On the other hand Road Safe America does ignore all data proving speed limiters increase the risk of accidents . Their ignorance is funded by ATA .
Public Citizen is also clueless about the real world of trucking with Joan Claybrook claiming trucks are sweatshops where drivers drive 11 hours a day 7 days in a row .
    http://www.citizen.org/litigation/briefs/HealthSafety/autos/
Somebody explain to me how you can drive 77 hours in 7 days when HOS limits you to 70 hours in 8 days .
These crackpots are the ones keeping FMCSA in court challenging HOS . They don't have a clue and all politicians care about regarding HOS is which organization makes the highest contributions .

Your grasping at straws if u think a log book makes a veteran driver safer.I read all these opinions on the HOS.The HOS regs are like reading the tax code.Alot of words and no common sense.HOS has nothing to do with safety. It has everything to do with public opinion. It does'nt matter if we're allowed to drive 11hrs or 1 hr a day, people are still going to die in accidents.

Without logbooks to hold them accountable some drivers would be driving 20 hours a day . You don't know your limit until you reach it and go slightly beyond it . Why anybody would even want to work beyond HOS limits is beyond me anyway . There's something wrong if you have to push yourself that far to make a living .

Most veteran drivers dont need a HOS regs to tell us when we're tired,we know our limitations. My first post was about the ones who are doing it right. We have proven that we know how to do it and do it safely. It would give new drivers something to shoot for and older drivers something to be proud of and not want to loose that privilage.

I totally agree with this statement. About half the men in my family are Policemen and the other half are firemen. You ask any of my family members that are Policemen they will all tell you the same thing, 99% are just doing their job and doing their best to be fair and understanding as long as the person treats them with the same respect that they do. Then you have the 1%ers that are jack ##### and abuse their power every chance they get.

People can complain about tired truckers all they want, I was run into, HEAD ON, on a Sunday afternoon by a car in borad daylight.

It has nothing to do with public opinion, it has to deal with a FEW activist groups who hate truckers and don't wnat us on the roads. If the public knew what these small groups are going to cost them at the register and why there will be more trucks on the road, the general public would be pi##ed. BUT, the general public has no idea because this isn't in the news where they can find out about it. So you people need to tell your family and friends about what is going on.

(And now, back to our regularly scheduled programming.)

The principal place of business is where records are kept and a truck isn't a principal place of business. I have done had this one in court with ohio. They can't make you produce NO receipts and can't legally put you OSS for not having them. What thye can do is the typical police scare you trick and you tell on yourself. These records are for audit purposes only and you will be given at least a thirty days notice before a audit.

So why doesn't the great OOIDA get these issues to the public by using CNN , USA Today , and other media sources ?
Road Safe America has been on Good Morning America and been quoted in nontrucking magazines like "Occupational Health " I even saw them on my local ABC news report .
