I learn more from overcomplicating things, typically brings out more discussion (adds a bit more confusion) and helps me further understand the issues.

Hush...........Dont give'em any ideas or we will have to start keeping the last 16 days worth of logs to show. :biggrin_25523:
I under stand what there trying to do with the 1am to 5am in the 34 hour restart, its stupid, but to only count one is even more stupider, as a uncommon route driver how the hell are you to know 5 days in advance what or where your going in order to know what 34 hour restart is to be counted to work in the drivers favor?
To bad the Crystal Ball company went out of business, now were gonna have to rely on the magic 8 ball to be right. [IMG]

Well so much for that idea.

I generally restart every weekend (get back to El Paso on Friday evening, home all day saturday/half sunday then take off). Basically this new regulation won't affect me at all since I reset once a week and my resets always include the 1-5am timeframe.

Only once since I came back OTR did I reset during the week and that was when my truck was at Wichita Falls Freightliner for a day and a half.

For us OTR drivers that have no set schedule and are at the brunt of this new rule...does this mean we start running with TWO EOBRs? :biggrin_2555:

nope you just get to bank on the confused DOT officer trying to learn how to read the multitude of options of EOBR's out there. Well until it prodcasts wirelessly to the scale house, then you're screwed.

I'm just counting on the big O being re elected and then his minion Ray will come out with some rule forcing all us old guys off the road into some fat pension that will be paid for by a new tax on starting drivers. :biggrin_25522:

this new rule DOES effect you. cuz you can only have ONE reset in SEVEN DAYS. meaning your weekends are gonna rotate. and us weekenders are only gonna get one weekend every 7 weeks now.

That shows me that no law is going to prevent stupid people from doing stupid things.

Surely you would not have allowed this driver to continue even if he had just finished a proper 34... You didn't need an HOS violation to put him OOS.

Negative. That's one reset within seven days. Big difference.

I think people are confused, thinking the new rule means 7 days must pass between resets, when its actually one 34 hour break qualifies for a reset every 5 days.
