I believe the 750 has the torque limited to 2500 nm until the last 2 gears, if it's true then you only have the same power as an r500 in lower gears, that's not much good!

It was higher but I don't remember how much, more than 3000 Nm anyway.

More efficient transmission of motive force to the ground in certain gearing applications

it is you will not downshift always we all try to stay as longer as possible in highest gear

however scania grso905 (overdrive gearbox) in engines up to 560 ( including 560also) can be specced in way that you can have direct gear or overdrive as cruising gear on opticruise

this can be good if you driving both highways and country roads

2.92+315/70 with overdrive gearbox have 85kmh at 1050rpm if you drop speed below it will make downshift to stay in torque range and you can lose speed during shifting

anyway we have here some very different specced trucks most of scanias here have 3.08+315/70 and direct gearbox

    some 580s have 3.4+315/70 almost all 144 are 3.4 and 315/70

so most of them have 90kmh at 1600-1650rpm

in last 2years there is plenty of long drivetrain trucks so some of them are

    r480 with 2.92+315/70 and overdrive
    r500 6x2/4 gross 44t 3.08+315/70 and overdrive
lot of new G series with 2.59+315/70

my brother used to drive few years ago ( i think it was 2008 ) 1999 man 3series with 5cil engine truck have 950at 88kmh in last gear it has 295/60r22.5 tires

so in most case he used 7H or 8L when he was empty

my relative in bih have man tractor 460 with 70kmh at 1750rpm he drive coal for power plant gross weight 50t (110000lbs) he returning crushed stones for asphalt base same weight

he drive over high mountains there 160km in one direction in this 160km there is no more than 5km of straight road so only uphill, downhill, bends, serpentines, more uphill , more uphill......

only one incline is 9% 10km long

he made 640-800km depending on day

he get 35L/100km (6.7mpg) so sometimes short transmission can even help in fuel

Short routes are different but I know some drivers who want slow gearing so that they don't need to change gears in hills (or before a hill). They lazines spends more fuel when driving long distances on level ground at high rpm. If you have 14 gears you don't need to always drive at 14th.

Great sound indeed ,but only 140-141 sound like this, they have a very big turbochargher and dont have an intercooler(less air restriction)

The 620 really does have an old school 'crack' to them, nicer sound than my old 580 for sure

    not quite sure in this

400hp actros and even 430 are acting like dead animals

my 25year old 350hp goes better than 40 and goes similar like 43

old om442a is not agile you need to rev it high to get some power

but it is very elastic and goes good in hills
