The same people who say that you should keep it to yourself and not mention your personal life are the same people who in the next breath will tell you about their wife and kids. See the hypocrisy?

 

Then they should be all gay . They sure aren't friendly to anybody else .

Some gay people have a significant other and kids too.

 

Sure they do and if they choose to talk about their private life with their co-workers than that is their choice but then you can hardly be surprised when their orientation starts to become an issue at work.

I'm agnostic but I'm not going to walk up to a bunch of religious types and start making an issue out of it.

If you don't want it to be an issue simply don't make it one, pure and simple. You can't control the actions of others but you can control yours - don't give them the ammunition to shoot you in the back with. You are there to work, so focus on your work.

I don't discuss my wife and kids with anyone unless I'm asked directly about it for some reason.

People seem obsessed with telling people every little thing about themselves whether anyone wants to or needs to know about it.
My dad had a friend years ago and he was always around and we all liked him and hung out with him as kids...He was a cool guy!

Years later I was talking to him and he told me that he was gay...Who cares? Why did he think I wanted or needed to know about it?

It was irrelevant at the time as it is now and yet he just HAD to tell me about it....Strange ####!

I still liked the guy and we remained friends until he passed away a few years ago
