Hi... we just got Sirius radio for the truck. I'm with Mike this week and having a heck of a time getting it to work. We have the Starmate 4 radio. We even put a mushroom antenna on the mirror but still, no luck.

We find a blank station, tune in the radio and can't get reception worth beans. We're sitting at the Flying J in NY right now and it's the first time it's worked since we left Canada. We have an excellent signal, according to the signal indicator, but most times we get NO reception at all.

I've been told the newer ones, like this one, have a much weaker transmitter so don't work as well. Anyone know if this is the case? Anyone know what I can do to fix it?

Maybe an FM direct adapter??? Maybe a transmitter enhancer or something???

    Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All I can think of is to call sirius. We have XM and have had very few problems with them. When we have had trouble they were able to walk us through it.

I dont know how yours is set up, but they did advise us to use the cord with the cassette on it for better reception. It came with both of our XM radios.

Good luck, these sattelite radios are awesome!!

yes get the fm modulator cable thing what ever its called it will cancel out all other fm signals to the radio or just remove your truck antennas.
try a different freq i have great success with 87.9 with my old starmate with no fm modulator stuff rarely have to change it at all

when the sirius radio is on and the fm on the truck is on, and you press scan it will go through all ch for fm till it gets back to the sirius one! you will not here any of the fm freq music/talk ect, it will just go to sirius.

I forgot to tell you its really easy to install if you cant do it get your shop to help you.
pull the radio out disconnect the antenna plug then plug it in to the adaptor then plug the adaptor into your radio and your starmate.
    walla no more worries

It was a REALLY boring week!! LOL

I messed up and broke the wire antenna thingy the other day - maybe that did it. Going to get another of those and try that first.

If that doesn't work, going to get a modulator thing.

    Thanks!!! :)

myminpins all you need to do is if you have a tape player for a radio go to walmart buy a tape with a cord to plug into your radio then your sirus radio will work without haveing to tear out you normal radio to do so it will come in cristal clear have any questions let me know

Unfortunately, it's a CD player, not a tape player. I'm trying replacing the small wire antenna to see if that helps. If not, I'm going to try another radio - maybe it's defective - but we'll see. Sure is frustrating.
