The only time you'll see a motel room, on the company, is during orientation.Or if truck is broke down. If you get "layover" pay, that is suppose to help ease the costs of sitting, such as grub/motel.

Only if you are driving a daycab. Although, there are some private carriers that do.

You will have to do some research in your area, here in TN & NC, some off the furniture manufacturers have their own private fleets and run day cabs.... their drivers take breaks in pre-assinged motels (Motel 6, Red Roof Inn, Scotish Inn, Etc) along their route. It seems some of the big resturant food distributors and grocery stores with their own distribution, also use this business model. The only down side is the fact that all of these job require a fairly stout fitness level, as these guys often do all the unloading.

Yea for the most part no. But if you get into line haul or something specialized then maybe. Few and far between though.

Alot of LTL companies do it. If I end up staying overnight, its in a hotel every time.

Yes a lot of companies do. Most otr carriers however do not. Maybe look for companies running Western Stars, probably your best fit. You also may want to look into the wellness exam. Companies are now making you do a wellness exam before hiring you.
