Lets see here Right before New years in 1999 hauled a load of Prime and I mean Prime American Kobe Style Beef. Ended up with a case of 5 Bone in Ribeyes that had spilt was going HOME after my reload. One went to my Lumper and he said SCREW THE CASH. Had to go thru the Yard one went to my Dispatcher well needless to say SHE WAS a VERY HAPPY WOMAN. I took 3 home with me. Took 4 months to eat all of the Beef in that when I was home.
Have gotten Arby's Roast beef Damaged Cases there Grapes Oranges Dates Figs Lettuce Salad Kits from Fresh Express More Bacon than I can think of all overages. The best one however besides the beef I got had to be the time I unloaded at the Elizabethtown KY Coke Plant and they went you want anything. I jooked and said yeah 10 cases of Coke Classic cans and 4 6 packs of 20 oz Coke bottles pulled out and THERE THEY WHERE ON THE BACK OF THE TRAILER.

It amazes me at times how shippers can't count. Picked up a preloaded trailer once that was way heavier than bills said it should be, but was still legal. Upon getting to final stop in Florida, found an extra pallet of pork ribs on the truck. That final stop paid me pretty good to let them unload it there. They got a deal, as did I.

80 cases of lunchables and 64 cases of turkey sausage on same load. Nobody knew they were on the trailer and i wasnt telling. Gave them to a local food bank when i got home, kept a few for myself. Was picking up a load of old computers from an air force base so i just threw them up in the nose and put a bulkhead up and loaded the rest of the trailer with the computers.
I've gotten hotdogs, turkey, pork, and beef too many times to remember how many cases i actually got altogether. Was nice driving for a meat company and getting the so called rejected stuff. Most of the time it was rejected just for a drop of blood on the case. -
All I get is a dirty trailer I have to sweep out. Some times I get a free piece of a broken pallet, maybe some wooden wedge blocks nailed to the floor that I have to pry off.
..that's about it.
Though a few years back a driver approached me and asked if I wanted some free oatmeal. He had regular and instant so I took a case of each home for the family. It was damaged freight and just looked like one or two in each case were broken but the rest of them were just fine. -
I have had drivers give me things also. One driver gave me some paper towels and another one was selling them huge bottles of Tide for $5 each. I bought four of them and gave them to family. -
