well after reading thru the rest of the thread, i see he didn't get my old columbia.
Welcome and congrats to all the new drivers that have completed orientation, are waiting for their "trainers", and are on the bus headed to the rock.
Jim- was a pleasure seeing you again and dinner with sewerman a.k.a pollock, and cups, was a blast as well. I wish i would've seen the polish sausage before my third plate. what'd i end up with 7 or 8? whatever, i ate so much, i didn't get hungry til lunchtime the following day. Was wondering. . .did you ever get "know it alls" real name you know the one i'm talking about that left the lights on in the company vehicle saturday night after using it after you and not signing it out? and then making it a point to say that if the lights are on automatic they turn themselves off. Like i said alot of times what i say and what i think are two totally different things. I was thinking after that statement of sheer brilliance. . . "Yeah we know brainiac but since you've been driving a truck since the only terms you needed to know to steer were gee and haw that out of habit, you reached down and turned the lights on just like you do in your 2010 cascadia"
sewerman---glad the apple butter express finally made it to the consignee. twas no problem but again sorry bout the out of route getting it down to little rock.
cups---jelly on waffles this am. . .YUMMY!!! wife said i had some stuck to my facial insulation, i told her yep, i know, stuffs so good, i'm saving that for later. lol

Made it home last night with 2 coil load going to tecumseh products in paris, tn for monday.

Heard a rumor that was floating around HQ at little rock that i was quitting. ROTFLMFAO!!! Perhaps someone heard me say that i should quit when i was talking about quitting chewing tobacco and instead of coming to me about what i had said word got back to little rock. Not that i even needed to do so, but i called training department and f.m. to tell them the only place i was going other than home was wherever my next work assignment sent me

Loaded at nucor in crawfordsville friday eve at 1730 out of door 1. Scalehouse said door 1,2,or 3. pulled in front of the doors and opened door one. All 3 bays had trucks in them. covered wagon in 3, flatbet that just got 2 coils put down on it in bay two, fully tarped flatbed company unknown, loaded, secured, tarped, down to the last bungee. I figured he would be the next to pull out so i set up to back into door 1 but left enough room for the driver to pull out. he did. i backed in, set up for my two coils, got loaded and put two straps over each and then opened the door to see if there was any other drivers waiting to be loaded.

You see what i forgot to mention was, for crawfordsville, in. in late january, the weather was nice high 30's and wind at 5mph if even that. I peeked out the door to see if there was another driver waiting to be loaded. if there had been another driver, id've pulled out and finished securing and tarping outside so he/she could get loaded and get home just like i was trying to do. OMG a truck driver actually thinking about someone other than himself. . . SAY IT ISN'T SO.

stick around long enough ladies and gentlemen if you haven't heard it already, and you will hear driver's talk about the good ol' days when drivers helped each other. How if a truck was broken down on the side of the road, by the time 4 or 5 trucks pulled over to help enough knowhow, equipment and tools were available to fix the breakdown and how they wish those days would return. Problem is alot of those drivers that are complaining about current state of the trucking industry and lack of teamwork are the same ones you are waiting on to put every last bungee on their tarps while you are outside waiting to back in to be loaded. or putting away every last edge protector while you are next to be unloaded. courtesy is contagious as the common cold just like teamwork. (of course some are immune to anything, even advice)

Change begins with the person you look at in the mirror.

    improvise, adapt, overcome

Or like my favorite tshirt reads, "evolve or die". can't dumb it down any more than that

From the google maps satellite, it is on a dead end street and looks like a very big parking lot. Worse case, I just sit on the road all night....at least I will not have to start my clock until I have my load on Monday.:biggrin_2551:

The floor of my truck was so filthy that I could not stand it anymore. So I went up and scrubbed the floor down. Now it looks as clean as when I got it. Of course that will only last until i have to unload or load in the next mud lot...lol

I just remembered something that I wanted to share. On Monday when I delivered at Grand Blanc Processing in Holly Mi, there was another Maverick driver in front of me. I went up and said Hello as I usually do.
A bit later he came walking back to my truck with his bol in his hand. He explains that the ship to address is different than what was on his wo...thus where he had already untarped and unloaded.
I asked him " Didn't you look at it when you answered the question "Is the ship to different than your bol on the leaving shipper screen"? He said no that he did not.
I suggested that he go up and talk to them before he gets unloaded.
He did and sure enough he was at the wrong place...he needed to go another 60 miles south.
So make sure you look at your bol before you answer the question.
The guy unloading told me that it happens all the time.

I also ran into a similar situation that Sarge spoke about. It was at Arvin Rollcoater in Hawesville, Ky.

Beautiful day....very mild and no wind. Everyone is in the three docks finishing up with every bungee before they pulled out.
No one came in behind me or I would have pulled out and let them in. Common courtesy goes along way....Do Unto Others as You would have them Do unto you!

I did not get my bol until after I was finished and on them it said...When using chains make sure to use edge protectors (I got four skidded coils)
Then under it, it said. Straps Only!
They saw me using chains ( I was the only one...everyone else used straps) and never said anything to me, so I guess it was ok....lol

if you noticed on my postings that there were a lot of periods after every word, it is because my fingers are big and keep hitting the period instead of the space bar on my phone.
I now have an application on my phone and netbook that allows me to tether my netbook to my phone.
So I will try to use it more so I can expound on my daily adventures.
I tend to keep it short when I am using the phone.

I plan on heading out around two today to head down to elizabethtown Ky To Alabama wire products.
When I get there I am going to send in a message that I need to get my truck to the freightliner dealer this week as I have two sensor failures on my def system and a big yellow engine symbol on the dash.

Hope you all have a wonderful week.....I sure enjoyed my weekend!

    sewerman Thanks this.

I'm sitting in Johnsonville, IN after a 34hr in Madison. Going to get me a 10 in tonight, & get unloaded 3rd thing in the morning. I'm 3rd in line. Four Maverick drivers in all. Hope I can get a rather nice run in the morning.
