Hello, and have a seat...
For I have a need to write and share all that I see and experience on a daily and weekly basis....
And I want to create a place that is 'neutral'...
I need a place where myself, and or others, can write and share their experiences about their work enviornment, the way one would while at an old style drivers lounge, when they actually designed truckstops from the foundation up, with the driver in mind...
Not like todays 'serve all' fuel stops, which are designed to serve cars, buses, RV's and everything else inbetween...
I like my marriage thread, but the title implies that the mechanics of trucking in and of it'self is what is wrong...and that's not always the case...it's often attitudes or situations you encounter while trucking, that make trucking seem like a 'bad marriage'...but the simple shifting of gears and doing your job, is a breeze, a piece of cake...
And my 'Million dollar trucker' thread...well...I want that thread to be for when I achieve certain milestones, and share things, that will specifically help other drivers to succeed....
Where as this thread here...I want it to be a place where myself and others, can just share stories, or opinions about the industry in general, or how their day went ect ect....
I do think it helps others to compare what they go through, with what other drivers go through...expecially the OTR types...because often times they have no one to compare notes to at the end of the day...many of them today, are just out there alone...
With the new style of driving...communicating with other drivers is just not something that's practiced very often...but yet is needed...
And I want to give those drivers a place to come, a place to compare notes with, a lounge of sorts, where they can feel at home...and know they're not alone....
A place where a variety of trucking topics can be discussed, issues that effect us all, some good, some bad, some ugly, and some cute...
And with that, I will begin...
One more note....
With me, it's better that I consolidate all my thoughts into one place...rather than scatter them around everywhere and start dozens of threads...it's better for me to just consolidate all that i experience with trucking into one thread...
And the theme of my first thread on here will be comparing drivers with the movie 'Planet of the Apes'....I see a lot of parallels between the too...refering to 'dignity'....
Drivers lounge....

Wow, I don't even think a "pay-per-view", 4" black and white TV is worth $.25.

They were common in truck stops closer to towns and cites. The other thing that was common at the table was a mini jukebox. It was about the same size as the tv. 25 cents got you 3 songs.
