Eh, WHAT can I do about but learn from it?
HAving "killed" my OLD truck,I am now in my "new" truck. 10k less miles on it!! Which means it has 779K not 789!!!!! DBL had said his previous driver that was in it had complained it leaked oil like a sieve. We'll see . Have 3 gal oil in the sidebox.
Other than the steering wheel being all gummy, I think I like the truck itself better? It has a new mattress which I unpacked. the other mattress was nice though.Except what appears to be a broken stud or something that holds up thi sliding tray/desk in the rear bottom cabinet. THATS gonna bug me. Oh well, only a few months in it before I move on to something newer. I hope.sammycat Thanks this. -
Glad there are no leaking parts on you. We're paying our dues. When I had my rollercoaster ride in my truck, all I broke was a drive tire and rim.

I'm either in Mehoopany or Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania...not sure where the boundaries are...except to say it is right in the middle of knowhere ! I find this fascinating...Proctor and Gamble evidently decided to bestow hundreds of jobs to this low I come area of NE Pennsylvania. There is a (think Billy Fuecillo) HUGE factory....nestled in a beautiful mountain valley...where they make. Charmin, Bounty, Lovs.....probably depends and sanitary napkins as well. Five miles away...on top of a hill is another HUGE structure....it's the warehouse and distribution center for P&G.....there are no 4 lane highways to these centers....to get there the big rigs that service both plants must get of I-81 at the small town of Clark Summit ....drive thru the main streets....then travel 30 miles thru hill and dale to the P&G centers. I have a load of paper products going to Philadelphia tomorrow morning. My company has a mini terminal here...since we do so much business....small building with showers....TV....microwave and big parking lot for trucks to rest. Thank goodness for my iPad .....I'm writing. In my journal....AND listening to the Syracuse/Georgetown basketball game on the pad....what an invention. I turned down a job today....it wasn't definite....but there was an inquiry if I would be interested in a announcer job at Christian radio.... I just feel like I need to see this truck thing thru....I'm more confident now...every day gets better. I hate to thi k that I would leave it after such an effort to get in.
HeWhoMustNotBeNamed and Wedge Thank this. -
One more thing...you've probably read this before....but its worth hearing again.
Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan “Press On” has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.

Markus, another career changer here also. Teaching jobs here are not easy to come by anymore, so I have been thinking about trucking for a while. Let us know how it goes for you. I am still trying to narrow down the training field myself.
Welcome and good luck. -
Mark

I've read your whole thread. Thanks for sharing your experiences with Shneider (thanks to all the vets for your insight too). I start orientation with them Feb 21st and your thread has helped assure me that I picked a good company to start my career with. I'm very excited about my career change...and not at all dillusional about life on the road. You have inspired me to start my own thread soon to share my newbie experiences in order to help other newbies and to gain insight from the vets. Thanks Markus and keep up the great work!
Markus Thanks this. -
If you ever get a 2 stop delivery 01 of 02 in Chatham and 02 of 02 to springfeild, take a left at Lafayette from Shunpike to get to 24 to I 80. Not the left it tells you 4 streets down.Trust me. GPS takes downa street that has an 11'10" railroad bridge. Thankfully a fromer pumpkin lives right there!!! He helped me get backed up on a sidestreet to turn around. -
Geeze....I haven't had that happen yet...low bridges scare me. We're learning a lot ... Sounds like your getti g to see more places than me....I e. even runni g back and forth between Pennsylvania and Mew England... 2 to 3 times per week.
