Especially a military heavy hauler.
When reversing on bad ground the low axle sometimes picks up grass and sand/mud.
When revering a heavy hauler the torque sometimes kneels the front end so low that this muck ends up in the fan and radiator.
The heavy haul guys here specify a straight front axle , no extra cost. -
they are both air suspended truck have leaf springs on rear
every heavy haul scania with 1+3 axles formula have air suspension on front
i have never seen scania younger than 2001 with front leaf suspended axle all are with air although laxa say that truck can be a,b,c, and z
those old 144 had parabolic-air-multi leaf or parabolic-air-air -
and yes straight axle normally cant be combined with air suspension
maybe could be with special request
( air suspension for better weight distribution and on shorter wheelbase there is no space for springs) -
anyone grown know this -
is this roll off tipper and tractor in one? -
These are all 6x4 units with straight front axles , Im sure they are on steel suspension front and back.
How is tyre wear on the air steer tyres? -
no no 8x4/4 with lead axle and short wheelbase i have seen only with front air
but laxa say that steel suspension also exist for them but never seen one after 2001
so straight axles cant be in combination with air suspension and looks like there is plenty reasons for air suspension
scania have 7axles for steel suspension (2x6.7t, 7.5t 8/8.5t, and 3x 9t one straight one semistraight and one drop axle) and 3 axles for air suspension (7.5t 8t probably in case of this scania above and it can be rated on this truck up to 8.5t and one 9t which is pretty new)Last edited: Feb 15, 2012
